- Porthcawl RFC have produced a number of Welsh internationals and British Lions over the years and used to provide training facilities for a host of touring teams who stayed in the town including the likes of the All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks.
The club was one of the first to register a giant killing feat in the Welsh cup when they defeated Maesteg in 1973. Since then a number of cup runs have been enjoyed culminating in games against first class opposition including Neath, Ebbw Vale and Aberavon.
Last season the club won Division 7 only to be cruelly denied promotion following the deduction of points for a technical offence off the field of play. Their cause for reinstatement of the points was supported by no fewer than 5 Wales coaches and several internationals.
The club has also been at the forefront of overseas tours including no less than 6 ventures to Canada plus numerous other countries.
