| Music With Mummy (or Daddy or someone else important!)
|
by sml (Member 10018811) on 7-Feb-2010
|
Music With Mummy is a fun, educational music class for children aged 3 and under. We have been established since 1992, and focus on teaching basic aspects of music while having fun! Each half term children are introduced to a different learning concept through a new theme.
The programme uses music that has been especially prepared for the youngsters. We use a mixture of old favourites and original songs.
The classes encourage early social skills, bonding between parent and child, and early speech development. Both Health Visitors and Speech Therapists have been very impressed with the classes and many parents have formed strong lasting friendships, all from one weekly half hour session!
I will soon be starting classes in this area. For more information and to book a place (places are limited) call Sarah Luke on 07799 787413 or see www.musicwithmummy.co.uk ... more >>

| BILL LUKE BAND - MAESTEG TRUMPET PLAYER
|
by Stephen Luke (Member 10194772) on 7-May-2009
|
Hello all,
I'm looking for any information on my Grandfather Bill Luke who used to play trumpet all across south Wales years ago. He died in 1981.
He started playing in the Hibernian Brass Band in Maesteg in the 1920's, then Dooner's Cinema, before moving on to running his own bands including the Bill Luke Band, The Geriatric Five etc for many many years. He played an awful lot of gigs in Porthcawl.
I'm looking for any old pictures, sound recordings, stories or programmes of events etc - any snippets of information would be great. I would be willing to pay for copying or sending any material.
Please e-mail me at lukee@btinternet.com or phone 07818 445606. I will phone you back to save your bills.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your time

| Thieving Scum
|
by BETH WILLIAMS (Member 10141797) on 2-Jan-2005
|
I grew up in Porthcawl and always had fond memories of the place....until recently that is! My sister got married last Wednesday in a hotel in town and some thieving piece of crap thought it was a good idea to gatecrash her reception and nick all the wedding cards, remove all the cash and vouchers and dump the cards on the dual carriageway. Nice eh??
- Re: Thieving Scum
by t.j. (Member 10121692) on 25-Jan-2005
yep, best thing to come out of porthcawl is that dual carriage way. I left to live in paradise, its called England!!
- Re: Thieving Scum
by BETH WILLIAMS (Member 10141797) on 28-Jan-2005
I also moved to England - which I wouldn't have called paradise .... but then again compared to Porthcawl

I went even further. Moved to Canada. Have some great memories of Porthcawl though.

My father was a resident in Porthcawl until a few years ago when he died. I believe his brother Brett is still in the area, as perhaps are his sons Justin and darren. I would be interested in knowing his final resting place so that my brother and I ( Chris & Michael) can pay our respects. I believe both Bretts sons were keen kayakers and his wife's name is Caris. Thanks for any trouble taken on our behalves.
