  • Make sure you check out Portsmouth SU Bar. Great vibe to it.
  • nisa todays foodstore in priddys hard love it
  • southsea has the most skaters. up by town has the most chavs and i know people who have been beaten up there for their 'label'.
  • Horndean (just outside Portsmouth) has a great brewery called Gales and you can get the best beer ever from there - HSB!! Make sure you look out for it in one of their pubs of which there are many in Portsmouth.
  • I am a student who comes from essex. I do not have the accent or blond hair, but have noticed a similarity in the accents, though Pompey is more Mockney ( mock cockney) I think the city is Ugly and needs more green space aroubd it and more dog friendly places
  • I've lived in Pompey all my life and it's wicked! I'm glad most of the people who've written about it here seem to think the same. It's got a beach - not incredibly clean but getting better, loads a pubs, clubs, shops etc and everyone should visit so if you're planning a trip then good for you.
  • Copnor Fire Station is safe for 3 to 5 years. There is to be a complete review of fire service for the WHOLE of Portsmouth area. Public consultation during this last review has been very poor. Please look out for any support that is required as the future fire service is in the publics hands to save it we have to be prpared to have our say. This affects Portsea island as well as the surrounding districts. Therefore campaigners will try to inform the public as best they can but they will need your support.
  • Sadie King at 43 St R.......... (take a guided tour). Not surprised she can't be fitted anywhere else, have you seen the size of her.
  • What on earth has happened to the Buckland Estate? Its like some super sized public toilet (and damned well smells like it toin places)
  • What on earth has happened to the Buckland Estate? Its like some super sized public toilet (and damned well smells like it toin places)
  • the holiday inn is now called the mariot hotel
  • English to Portsmouth translation - Lesson 1 - Say you wish to inform a fellow 'Pompy Kev' that you wish to "Go down town to buy some brown trousers for a pound", simply say thay you are "Gain dain tain to buy some brane traysers for a paind", he will then reply with something like "I likes gain to tha' cheap gaff dain the mar'et to", which roughly translats to "I like to go down the more cheaper end of the market too"
  • Porstmouth strikes me as a pretty happening town in the sense of being sophisticated and wide ranging. Its big without being sprawling. The library is huge. The housing is cheap half the price of London for a flat. Secret aphrodisiac!A large tray of FRESH cockles from the little stall near the Victory entrance Wow!Must be somehting in the freshness.........
  • Thirst, a brilliant 4 piece 'grunge rock' band born and bred in Portsmouth, they're going to be massive! They play quite alot of local gigs and are well known in the area.
  • Best Band....The Murmers of Irma (and im not just saying that cos my brothers the drummer) GO AND SEE THEM!!! Gigging soon near you!! 60's psychadelic popsters....Daryl has to be seen to be believed....the scary sailor suit and the remaining Weirdre Sister!!
  • Beware of an influx of gold digging women from south wales. They hang around for any males that are stupid enough to fork out vast amounts of money on their whims, mainly men connected to the MOD are at risk (and I dont mean the naval prescence in portsmouth!)
  • Most bizzare must-see place : Cumberland museum - full of stuffed eerie animals that you just love going to visit as a kid.
  • Does anyone have anything good to say about the place?
