The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else in Reigate, Surrey*

The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
  • A 'SPECIALIST' BMX / SKATBOARERS RETAIL OUTLET WITHIN THE REIGATE AREA - JUST FOR KIDS/TEENAGERS (AND MAYBE THE DAD'S TOO !!) COME ON - I WANT TO GIVE REIGATE WHAT THE BMXER'S / SKATEBORDERS WANT WITHIN THEIR TOWN !!!
  • i did hear the council was planning to shoot snobby mums in their 4 by 4 that insist on driving their little darlings 3 mins to school, i keep looking in local paper for an update on that story but have not heard anything yet
  • Back to Quentin Cook, aka Norman, now more famously known as Fatboy Slim - he went to Reigate college 1979 to 1981. I took my A-levels with him. Somewhere(!) I have a very cool photo of him 'busking' with a violin outside the college rest room.
  • There's a nice lil sex shop by the station that has incited some predictable controversy. Unfortuntely, you will not be able to visit between the hours of 3 and 4pm (approx.) so that the school children do not peek their heads around the door.
  • the priory
  • reigate's pretty good to go back to. decent pubs but expenzive, but then where isn't around london. its very green. the people aren't dickheads, mostly. wouldn't live there as a kid, if i had any choice, but there's come good schools etc. defo an older folks place. the only people to slag it off aren't old enough to leave. once you leave home and have to face the big wide world reigate is a noce place to come back to and see your folks.
  • There's a great ski shop on Bell Street. The local newspaper (The Surrey Mirror) is actually based there rather than writing about Reigate and being miles away.
  • Quentin Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) was not at Reigate Grammar School from 1976 to 1981 - he was in my year and I took A levels in 1978.
  • Emma Hope, shoe designer(see latest Good Housekeeping magazine) was at Reigate County School from 1973.
  • Norman, real name Quentin, Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) went to school at Reigate Grammar, 76-81, I used to sit next to him in 3LR! He disowns the school now but with untold millions and being the worlds most successful DJ / Producer he can do what he likes I s'pose.
  • If you see the security guy in the yellow jacket walking up and down Church street then do the charitable thing and strike up a conversation
  • LOCAL CURIOSITY - Barons Caves - sandstone caves underneath the Castle Grounds, worth a tour if you manage to find out which of the three weekends in the year they do them. They used to run several miles east and west from Reigate, until the local council of the seventies decided to fill them in with concrete.
