The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

- Sadly, the owner of Druid's has taken his eye off the ball (it's a rugby theme pub - haha? oh well please yourselves) and has brought in a particularly surly management couple. The South American chef has been replaced by a greasy fry up merchant and (to my palate) the food has gone down hill. Still a lively atmosphere until 20 minutes before closing, when the lights go up, TVs and music go off and pressure is exerted for everyone to get OUT!
- Penny V non smoking full of families, but cheap food, good beer and fruities that alwys work.
Hogs (millhouse) - do you have 20 minutes to get served as that is how long it took me- on a friday afternoon.
Druids- great new place
- The Western is now Droids, the best pub in Ricky now, great atmosphere friendly bar maids and sport on the plasma screens every day. Recommend it to everyone
- Coach and Horses, Black Horse, do the Chorleywood pub crawl, it's great fun, but watch out for wearwolves
- The white bear should be renamed the shite bear it's full of underage kids and country bumpkins who talk about the good old times before they go back to their canal boats for another hard day of moaning and drinking. Ocassionally a surprise will pop with the local karaoke involving tone def kids singing renditions of Britney Spears. However despite all this food is quite excellent and the service is great. It has a beer garden aswell which is great to sit in during the those hot summer nites.
- Thought you might like to know that the Fox and Hounds ph is now under new management, with many changes to come. We will still be serving traditional ales but will be adding a restaurant and letting out the function room. This we hope will be witnin the next six months.
- Pennsylvanian Inn: 'Penny V.' Personally I won't step foot in the place as it tends to become the High School Reunion from hell. All those people you hope to God you'll never see again once you leave school seem to congregate there. The crowd used to be exceptionally fresh faced, but now they've tightened the ropes and the clientel seem to be a little more believable. The staff are pleasant, the food is good and the booze is cheap.
Hogs Head: Over priced but more appropriate for a classier night out.
Western Inn: Also affectionately known as 'The den of ill repute.' Over priced but more appropriate if you like to think of yourself as the unwashed mass. Recently the place seems to have closed down (the windows and doors have been bolted with metal sheets) so I'm guessing the unwashed mass have had to congregate elsewhere.
Fox and Hound: Half the clientel have to be prodded on a regular bases to establish that they're still breathing. The other half work there. The kind of establishment where the landlord sratches his bum, sniffs his fingers whilst joyfully exclaiming 'Vintage!'
- Whip & Collar is a fine local pub selling good beer and excellent home cooked food
The previous comment about the landlord I am confused by as he is a very convivial
host.
Must be talking about the Dep Manager!
- The Hogshead, The Pensylvanian, Coach and Horses, Fox and Hound, The tree, The Halfway House, The Feathers, The Happy Man....the list is endless!
- The Fox N'Arnds Near M&S serves the finest Courage Bitter this side of heaven and has a welcome second to none from Mine Host.
- The Feathers, next to st marys church, quiet place, serves food. Keep yr distance from the landlord pat, scary fella.
- Coach & Horses: excellent. Fox & Hounds: good ale, but a bit cliquey.
Feathers: indifferent beers and poor service - try getting a full pint!
- The Coach & Horses - Super Greene king Abbot Ale
- The Sportmans a gay club apparently.
- Mostly ghastly, filled with people that can't learn that if they want to swear they should drink in the public bar, if there is one, they are freezing cold in winter also because the "stay a month" landlords are thoroughly maladroit.
- The White Bear has been recently renovated and my neighbour has stopped drinking in there! He says the beer's terrible now and it's no longer a drinkers' pub. I drive past it most days and it is often pretty empty ....
- im the bar supervisor of the hogshead rickmansworth, and i would like to inform you, on behalf of the legal division of whitbread uk ltd. that the comments concernign our public house, are considered as slander.
If they are not removed the company has threatened to take you to court, just a polite warning.
- Quick guide from Moneyhill to Ricky: Bell Book & Candle - great food, a little quiet but nice atmosphere, if you like ale one of the two best pubs in Ricky!;
Halfway House - lost a lot of character after refurbishment, no decent ales anymore alas; Western - western!; Fox & Hounds - not been in for a while, so unfair to comment; Hogshead - very fresh faced, good selection of ales, but not best kept; Pennsylvania - very very fresh faced, appalling service, ales poorly kept; Feathers - good ales, kept well but landlord can be very offish!!; Coach & Horses - the best pint of Abbot for miles, very well kept, nice atmosphere, good food, the other one of the two best pubs in Ricky.
To summarise - for ale it's got to be the Bell Book & Candle, Moneyhill Parade or The Coach & Horses.
- The western is becoming popular again with live-ish music at weekends
- The Pennicillin in the High street also doubles as Rickmansworth youth club and the service is atrocious.
- Feathers - Undoubtedly !!
Hogs Head is awful - don't serve food fast enough - approx wait for lunch 40 minutes, and then the order is wrong!
- Penny V Cheap drink, nice
- Fox & Hounds...Rickmansworth High Street... without question the only pub still serving genuine beers in a traditional ambience.
- The Feathers is in Church Street and not in the high Street.
- LOADS! In the area of the High Street, try The Coach and Horses, The Feathers, Weatherspoons (Openening late 1998), Hogshead.
- Rickmansworth has numerous pubs but one place I recomend strongly is Scotts Bridge Mill, it is situated at the bottom of Scotts hill, just outside of Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. It has excellent food, and drinks to die for, the 16th, 17th centry architecture adds to the authenticity of the building and when seated right, you can enjoy the small waterfall (originating from the river Chess) that runs right through the restaurant. Its setting is perfect for the romantic evening or the small business meeting.
- Scotsbridge Mill is an OK place, but DEFINATELY NOT a proper pub. It's part of the Beefeater Chain, which is hardly representative of Olde England. Plus, the river running through the middle of the restaurant isn't a waterfall, it's a weir with a "salmon leap" so the fish can travel back up it. Mind you - I must confess to having had the odd pint there myself, but I still prefer the Feathers in the High Street (apart from Quiz nights on a Wednesday because the questions are too difficult!)
- The Western - bit of a dump! The Hogshead & The White Bear
- Don't go to the Whip and Collar (unfortunate name, I know) as the landlord is one of the most unwelcoming, rude chaps in town.
- the best things about Ricky...the pubs......to many to list, Hogs head, the Feathers, the white bear to name a few
