The National Blood Service (NBS) operates 365 days of the year. We need to collect between 9-10,000 units of blood every day during the winter months. Traditionally, Winter is a challenging time for blood collection as people are prevented from donating due to colds and flu, which are widespread at this time of the year. Giving blood is easy. The Blood Donation process would take about 30 - 45 minutes, including registration and resting. (The actual donation itself takes no more than a few minutes.) Blood donors are invited to rest and enjoy light refreshments before leaving.
