Skateboarding Spots
- NEW PARK 2006 UP the rapids. Made by the gravity company, it's got a long grind box with 2 ft gap in it, wit a ;larger grind bow attached so you can go over the gap either grinding or manualling....or whatever.
1 driveway with no flat on top, just like a pyramid, leads onto another driveway with a flat top and quarter. these are too close together to get any real speed and the drop in's are way too small....
Then theres a 1/4/flatbank with wall ride behind, this leas onto a big flatbank with 2 ledges down the sides, top of this there's a flat standing area with a mini ramp with extesions, bit small though. one of the extensions leads onto a itght jump box. On on sid of the mini is a small flatbank to wallride, very pointless..... also a double rail and a manual pad with grindbox witha sloped side up to it....
all a bit dodge but worth a visit IU guess....better than the old one.
- Word up!
Sheeesh, skateboarding eh? Well, Romsey, back in the day (mid to late 80's) we had a crew. Pretty good and all, anyway, theres a fair few places to skate, the Flats with the 5 steps in the centre of town (remember kick flipping down those)A few Rails, me being the first to boardslide a rail in the history of Romsey (Go me!). The odd bank here and there and best of all Abbey Park industrial Estate, when that was being built, oh the fun we used to have there!
We also had our own mini skate park in Brets backgarden. We built our own Mini Ramp with a spine and tombstone extensions, from plywood that we begged, borrowed and stole!
The first public ramp in Romsey was built in the summer of 90 and used to be in Eight Acres, it then got moved (because the residents complained) to the Sports Centre, over by the Rugby Pitch. Then, at some point in the late 90's the Council built a park over by the Tennis Courts.
I sometimes wonder what life would be like if I had kept on skating, I still get the buzz, but from Snowboarding.
Ahhhh the good old days, Southsea Skatepark Powell Peralta tours, mucking around in Lordshill with Greg Nowik (I hear he's still skating, last time I spoke to him he was trainign to be an accountant or some such shit), and taking the mick out of Don Bryder...
- The Romsey brewery is a very open smmoth floored skateboard spot right in the centre of romsey with a ledge about 2 foot high with various ramps and rails laying about. But beware the floor has those annoying little stones sitting about that throw you off your deck but we have left a few brooms down there in places for anyone to use and clear it up. Every now and again you get pikeys down and smashing bottles and things like that and destorying out ramps that we've made. It's a very big building in the centre of romsey next to the libary, you have to climb over a gate or the fence if your coming in from the entrance by the star inn. It's good, go there and Skate and Destory!!
- Find the romsey rapids there is a skatepark there. Box with rail and hip, sloped rail, 2 quarters and a steep thin mini. I like the park it reminds me of my old hometown park in andover (charlton park) but that's gone now.........
They took the box away for a while cos some kid broke himself on it since all the tranny was lifting up but it's all back now and it's an okay place to skate.........
In romsey if you go into town and follow the 1 way system you should find by the road 2 6 sets. Nice run up, not quite enough space in between to do both, and some old man comes out his house to moan at you but it's all good.......just pretend he hit you and he goes away........
That's all we really found...........
- rapids skate park!
- Freestyle ramps installation. Mini
