However the page 3 / beauty queens Pam Woods and Tracey Dixon are Rotherham girls, as was the golfer Peter Tuplin. Anne Bolyn stayed in Rotherham while held at Sheffield Castle. Jeremy Clarkeson is a Doncaster - ite though - thank God. The Japeneese navy surrendered in World War 2 to HMS Rotherham. Henry Bessemer, inventor of the blast furnace convertor came from Rotherham. So did Ebenezer Elliot, Corn law rhymer, poet and leading agitator against the corn laws.

- I remember in the very early eighties a band from Rotherham called My Pierrot Dolls who if i am not mistaken had a massive cult following, does anyone remember them. I beleive the singer was called Ivor and also his brother who used to wear the craziest clothes and have the stangest haircuts, was he called spike.I once read somewhere that they were the best band never to have made it. can anyone throw any light on them
