The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

- Mostly old men's bars in Rothesay. If you're not looking for a scowl or a fight try the Victoria Hotel or get out to the Kingarth Hotel in the south of the island, or north 2 miles to The Russian Tavern.
- One man's fabulous pub is another's nightmare, so this my view ONLY. I look for a comfy place with friendly atmosphere, Real Ale, and the possibility of having a pleasant conversation without hiphop giggerpop played at loud volume.
I don't go to the pub to watch telly, play machines, pick a fight or pick up a froozy (call me boring!)In Rothesay the Black Bull has good beer and is friendly but rather sad. The Bradane is for serious alcoholics only, and death threats are liberally dispensed to anyone who hasn't lived nearby for sixty years. The Struane Bar out on the road to Mount Stuart is friendly and cosy...but shame about the cans of chemical beer. The best pubs for me are out of Rothesay, at Kingarth in the south of the island and at Port Bannatyne Marina in the North. The Kingarth is in a lovely spot, has a garden and beer tent, and does bar meals too. At Port Bannatyne there's The Anchor, an old man's spit and sawdust place, but friendly and on the waterfront. A great coal fire. Then there's The Port Inn, which has a good beer garden, old fashioned barmaid ruling the roost, and a separate room for pool. The third pub is The Russian Tavern which attracts tourists, holiday home people and people who are looking for upmarket food. But the beer here is superb, served direct from casks sitting on the bar. And they serve Erdinger and Warsteiner from Germany and lots of Russian bottled beers. It was elected CAMRA Scottish Pub of the Year 2005. If you have a couple of pints little bowls of olives and sun-dried tomatoes suddenly appear. Not advisable to ask for peanuts or crisps.
- No pub in rothesay will serve a minor, which again stops underage binging. The Taverna and Black Bull are good places to go for an easy night especially a saturday when Maggie Zav sings in the taverna and the Black Bull serves delicious food, a night out right next to eachother!
- The brandane bar is where u wanna be for a decent crowd and a crackin beer CHEERZ!!!!!!!!!
- The Black Bull
- Great steaks in the Black Bull, and a decent pint of 1664.
- Best pub quiz can be found at The Brandane Bar every second Friday night.
Best entertainment is in the Golfers on Fri And Sat. Same singer same set so you can tell the time by what song he is on! Nobody listens to him as they are deep in conversation or watching golf on TV
- alway`s been a brilliant place with nearly a pub every 2nd shop , one of the good things about rothesay!
- The Ritz is a COMPLETE AND UTTER MIDDEN OF A PLACE It is beyond me how the place gets a licence to sell drink !!???. Obviously the health and safety never visit it, the only people that go there are barred from all the other pubs in Rothesay.
- A pub on every corner and atleast one in between !! varying decor and atmosphere but they all serve drink !
- The Galatea near the castle is where all trendies hang out, the Grapes Bar on Montague St is where the rocker skater types hang out, and the Mac's Bar in front of the castle is the "pub that time forgot" but its good cos there's never anyone on the pool table. Apart from these three there are about 500 other pubs full of alcoholics or members of the pastel shirt brigade.
