• The Clarence, The Eagle & the Queens Hotel all have a selection of real ales. So has the Queens Head in Brockhurst Road, but the beers arn't kept well!
• Re: Oliver Reed once visited the Green Dragon. My Dad told me this too! Early 70's, he strolled in after filming on location and brought everyone a drink. Yes, it is a rough pub. My siblings have been patrons for years.
• lee again the belle vue, old ship, inn-by-the-sea, bun penny, wyvern and the swordfish
• One of Gosport's oddest pubs - The Eagle - accesssible from Rowner (why does this board talk about Rowner when Gosport is the name of the town?). Best moments there include regular meat raffles and locals exhibiting themselves shamelessly on a Saturday night The Middlecroft - top pub!
• The John Peel Pub became the Carisbrooke Arms somewhen between 1988 and 1990. I have been out of the country for 8 years and can't remember the exact date.
• Green Dragon, Rowner Road. Cariskbrooke Arms, Carisbrooke Road. The Grange, Nimrod Drive.
• Madelines, White Hart, Royal Arms.
• My favourite is the Queens Hotel (no longer a hotel however) - Gosport's non-stop beer festival. This always has about eight or nine different beers. It also has a bar billiards table, the worst wallpaper outside of a curry house and Sue the rather formidable (but also quite nice) landlady. Also worthy of mention: The Railway Tavern for live music.But: The Railway pub is NOT in Rowner, Rowner is a Sh*t hole (Concrete Jungle)
• What ever happened to the John Peel Pub? ..... and where is/was the Queens Hotel?
• a really rough pub is the green dragon. a few years ago i witnessed a man being beaten up outside this pub. not very noce i can tell you. by the way oliver reed ince drank there and caused what was the biggest punch up in the pups history.
