  • Landgate Bistro - really good food - not very cheap but very good value given the quality of the ingredients and the high standards of the cooking. Recently changed ownership (December 2005) and thankfully the new owners seem to have the same values as the prvious ones.
  • Very nice dinky seafood restaurant 'Oscars'. Not extremely cheap, but nice service and food.
  • Mahdi Spice, the best indian food to take away or eat in. its the only place where you are guaranteed to have a decent meal in rye at an affordable price. Rye grill is a must after a big night out at rye club
  • r the ole classic kebab delight... or rye kebab... lovely people serve ya likely to smile or leap over the counter n chase to the station with a cleaver
  • More tea shops than you could ever need. The Fudge Shop and the Tuck Shop are both mecca for retro sweet fans. But watch out for child-hostile signs in some places.
  • The Old Forge Restaurant in an old forge, with the original forge bellows and anvil retained. You are friendly welcomed by the owner Derek Bayntun. They specialise in fresh local fish, char-griled steaks and local seasonal foods. Derek advises you what is worth seein and explains the story a this little town. Open for lunch 12.30 to 2.00 p.m. (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and for dinner 6.30 -10.00 p.m.(Tuesday and Saturday)
