The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
- When' 'I were a lad' in Hanky Park...most of you 'Young Dudes' wont know about Hanky Park, but it's probably where you hang out now,The Precinct,Salfords good Salfords hard,Salfords cool, look after it.
- To whoever wrote an item about Walter Greenwood. He wrote a book entitled "Love on The Dole" which was also made into a film (old black and white). My mother told me the film did not go down well with some Salford folk, as they felt it showed them in a bad light. The truth always hurts!
- the burnt out cars. scallies dont fit anywhere. knives. anything remotely good here is shit. FOR EVER AND EVER AMEN
- Walter Greenwood's book about his own life, can't remember the title (it may have been "There were times"). Great read. Says young men used to have naked races on Kersal Moor. They said it was copying ancient Greek athletes, Greenwood's dad told him it was "so the lasses can way up form".
People going to work at mills used to stop by pub door for a glass of stout with an egg in it - their breakfast.
- the best thing about salford is that the video for the smiths 'there is a light that never goes out' was filmed here in which morrisey rode around on a bike with local kids around the back alleys where they lived and the boarded up shops and houses, a northern town fucked by thatcher and then forgotten about.
