  • Shockwave offers rig doctor service. contact him on ch19.
  • Salisbury is still a great place to live but it is being destroyed by the "Parking Ambassadors" better known as "Parking Highwaymen" and their little cohorts "The hidden black parking meters" all intended to "help the traffic flow". The real intention is to bleed the motorist dry and fill the council coffers so they can - employ more Highwaymen and black meters - so it all eventually grinds to a halt and we get no visitors or tourists and the City dies.
  • Cathedrel has oldest woking clock inthe world. A ufo is rumoured to have crashed in the early nineties into the Boscombe down runway (Military base). The craft was rumoured to be taken to America and the inhabitants are in the basement at Porton Down. The railway station was the site of a huge rail crash about 100 years ago. Since then all trains have to stop in Salisbury for 4 minutes before moving off.

  • We are the two ex-brewery shire horses which pull the drey for tourist's round Salisbury. You will find us bored stiff waiting for costomers outside the Guildhall, we love polo's so if you have any, you are most welcome to bother us. We love children, and promise not to eat them.
  • We do horse and carriage rides which go around salisbury during the Summer. If you would like to see Constables Views of the Cathdrel or go for a nice relaxing jaunt round the town. Find us parked out side London camera Exchange from elleven onwards. We are the two shires who look wonderful. We do two trips, one being the river trip which takes about 30-35 minutes, travelling along by St Annes gate, New Street to Elizabeth Gardens into the river, then back to Queen Street. Prices for this are: £4.00 Adult returns, £2.00 child return. The town trip is £2.00 adult return, £1.50 child return. If you want to hear about the flooded Cathdrel, the hand in the Haunch, the spook at Debenhams and many more, then see you soon. Neigh (bye)
  • I'm from London but I live in Durban in South Africa and I tried to run away in Salisbury on our way from Portland, because I hate SA so much. If your parents tell you you're moving to SA jump out the car and run towards Warminster and spend the rest of your life living on the plain. It would certainly be better than living in SA!
  • C.O.G.S Cycling group which meets every Wednesday for a evening cycle ride from 6.16 from the Guildhall
  • Cycle routes around Salisbury About C.O.G.S. (Cycling Opportunities Group for Salisbury). No one knows about us yet, they should.
  • I don't recognise Salisbury from the comments here. I have just returned after 8 years up north & I have had more contact with my neighbours in 3 months than I had in 8 years in the 'friendly' north.
  • Salisbury is pretty but of the people I grew up with who have stayed there the majority have obscene drug habits. People are unenthusiastic if they don't have money to a ridiculous extent and stuck up pisstakers if they do. The best thing is that many good friends who've successfully endured have businesses that are doing well. The Games Centre, Standout, Vodka Bar etc
  • I lived here for 15 years, then I left. I've tried Edinburgh, Brighton, and now Leeds, but have failed to find anywhere else with the peculiar mix of insular suspicion of outsiders, and hatred of anything new.
Beware of: Squaddies, coppers, landlords, anybody straight, hippies trying to tell you they were at the battle of the beanfield (if there had been as many as claim to have been there, then the coppers would have been outnumbered ten to one and got a right kicking).
Enjoy: The relief as your train takes you out of the station. The Cathedral (its quite a blinding building). The Star, which was once a nice pub, and the Winshester Gate which probably still is.
Don't expect to enjoy yourself unless you know somebody who lives here. They will be overjoyed to see somebody new for a change, and spend their time telling you how bad it all is.
  • The beautiful Salisbury cathedral has a delightful sounding boys, and girls choir. Highly recommended listening if you're interested in choral music. Also, the site at which Handel first performed "Messiah" is located near the cathedral.
  • I have been quite a regular visitor to Salisbury and don't recognise the place from the downbeat descriptions. Salisbury has got just about everything you could want from a city but on a human scale.
  • It is one of the most conservative places in this country. No one under the age of 30 lives there of their own accord. You have to like M & S clothes otherwise go esle where to shop. I was born there and did not know any thing different until I went away to university. It is a small minded place where everyone knows everyone elses business. Nice to visit once a term!
  • Not too big. Not too small. A charming city with a relaxed atmosphere.
