The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
  • Genuinely nice area, ruined by some at times but always got a bit of drama there. The Irish travellers dont tend to come to the town as much as they used to but if you know them then they are sound as a pound with you and cause you no trouble although some are famous to be arse holes and scum, the type of ''stay away from that gyp** hes a prick'', not all of them are though and most of them stay in the next town, middlewich
  • Sociology/Anthopology students could get a neat study cheap here... there's a kind of interbred (I won't say inbred, though some of them do have one leg shorter than the other) couple of families predating the M6 and Sandbach's re-invention as a motorway town. They are poor, and rather derided, but are actually quite a decent lot - unlike the rather unruly decendents of the 2nd wave working class Fodens/ERF (truck factories) workers, who take crack and fight the gypsies.
  • During the war between England and Scotland, a bunch of Scottish Soldiers stayed in Sandbach on the journey to a battle. They were welcomed in and treated with kindness by the townsfolk. Bearing this in mind, they stopped off here on the return journey. They were all slaughtered in their sleep. "The Commons", formerly known as "Scotch Common" is the location of this show of "Patriotism"
  • Fodens Band - the town's most famous export. World Brass Band Champions (Chicago last year). Dickie Attenborough was once seen window shopping at Oxfam on Bold Street.
  • PIKEYS
  • I totally recommend getting rat-arsed on cheap wine at Brereton sandquarry in late August.
  • Come to Sandbach Cricket club to watch some entertaining "pisssed up" cricket!
  • Sandbach is 30 miles south of Manchester and 7 miles from Crewe. It has guest houses and hotels nearby and provides an excellent base for touring the sights of Cheshire, Shropshire, The Potteries, The Peak District (Buxton), the Wirral and North Wales. Just 2 miles from the M6 it has excellent road access.
