The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else

- Dead in winter.Overun in summer.Everyone here seems to know everyone elses business.
- Everyone I know hated living in Sandown (and on the island) until they left for Uni etc.. it's one of those places you don't appreciate until you encounter the harshness of the mainland. It's a great place to bring up kids, as it's very safe, and there are no roads bigger than dual carriageway. Employment in high-paying jobs is scarce unfortunately.
- The Daily Telegraph did a piece on your site on Saturday October 7th which said the British Tourist Authority urged visitors not to take the site too seriously. Well I urge your visitors not to take the BTA too seriously. Example the "Offical" guide to Sandown, Isle of Wight describes Sandown as a "sparkling resort". As anyone who does not like fat pies and chips cafes knows this is poetic licence gone mad. The place is a hole. I don't live there I just visited one Saturday. Never again. The image the BTA sells of England is totally phoney - witness their "Melinda Messenger" campaign earlier this year.

- Sorry buddy but I agree with British Tourist Authority in that Sandown is a "sparkling resort". I don't live there either, I too just visited one Saturday and it is a delightful little gem of a place so go a wee bit easy there now dear fellow!
