Very sad to hear the new of his death at the weekend. He was a regular customer and held court at the Wimby Bar very often in the sixties. He was a legend and very much the very first DJ in the world. R.I.P Jimmy. Reply

Trying to trace my father who married a Margaret Norris nee Sails in Hackney 1970's Margarets mother was Winifred Sails nee Robinson 23/2/1913-24/1/1998 Bracken Hill, Scarborough, Widow of George Henry Sails. Margaret was married to a Henry Norris, with whom she had a son called Terence. My fathers name is Jack but he also goes under the name John. He was born in Lancashire. 10 year old Emma has had surgery for Scoliosis and is now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and for all children in the UK to have the very simple 'bend forward' test to get an early diagnosis of Scoliosis. She has an online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/start-testing-for-scoliosis-in-schools. Emma is aiming for 1000 signatures and currently has just short of 300... I'd like to see this figure go through the roof!!! This is an issue close to my heart as my son was diagnosed with adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at 16 and had surgery last november when he was aged 18 and a half. Many thanks! The last gig I went to in Scarborough was the Alan palmer Rememberance night. I used to go back to scarborough at Christmas to the Penthouse reunion. It was at one of these nights that brave New World played I took my eldest son with me who remembers you from scarborough, he was at t he tech in the 80s. His name is Steve Pryer, he also remembers your Dad, he sends his regards. Scarborough was alive with groups in the 60s and 70s. The Mandrakes used to play at the Tech dances at the Olypia Ballroom. We all used to hang out at the Whimpy bar and the highlight of the week was St Peters youth club and the old Candlight at the bottom of Bland cliff. the Incas became famous locally when they made a record. I think Brave New world were called the Trolls when they first set out. Didnt matter what time of day or night you would always find someone you knew there. Jimmy Saville regularly used to be in the Wimpy. Brave New World weren't originally the Trolls but Mick Bowen was singer in both. Think Dave Hann may have been in both groups as well?
