The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
- Some of the thigs said on this website are very old.I think it needs up dateing alittle.

- The clock on the tower of 20-21 arts centre is NEVER telling the right time, nor is the clock near El Toro.
Scunthorpe has a name with a rude word in it (never!!) which invites some notoriety, which is often bad, based on the crappy soundingness of the name. It isnt all that bad really, it just needs to open it's mind a little.
- scunthorpe is one of the biggest holiday towns in britain comin close to grimsby
- Hi
My son Jase is one of the Scunny Skaters who skates at Ridds Library and last Wednesday evening he was attacked by a lad a year older than him. It was a completely unprovoked attack just because him and the rest of the lads are skaters. They have had to put up with verbal abuse from these lads for quite a while. Jase received a broken jaw in two places resulting in surgery at Hull Royal Infirmary Thursday to have 3 plates in his jaw. As a result he cant skate for at least 3 months. Why do people treat them like this. As more and more places come available for them to skate, what harm are they doing. Hope fellow skaters and people who know Jase will have an opportunity to read this.
Thanks
Gail Norton ( J's Mum)

- If you have children and you're visiting Scunthorpe... here's a few ideas.....
Elsham Park
Needs to be nice weather, cos it's an outside thing well, once you've paid to get in, that's it.
Normanby Hall
Again mainly an outside thing, but the cafes is nice and there's an adventure playground (small one) and a farming museum and the Hall itself.
You have to pay to get in and if you want to visit the Hall and Farming museum, it's extra.
Leisure Centre
Swimming and allsorts.
Least it's inside, if it's chucking it down. And there's a little soft play area for the kids (height restriction)
But there isn't a cafe and they don't like you taking a pack-up. But I can high recommend the showers!!! I like staying in there for ages.
Bowling
There's two, but I always go to the Warner Lanes The cafe there is nice too and reasonably priced.
Cinema
I know it's small, but it's okay really. Cheaper on Monday afternoons I believe.
Central Park
I think the park is great. Lots of space to run and play and if you take balls and bats and whatever pleases them, you can spend a good few hours there.
There's a playground and a paddling pool... and they've stated doing putting I see. There's no cafe, but there's often an ice cream van lurking about.
Sargents Ice Cream
This is pretty neat. There's a lovely cafe (bit pricy on some things) and a great play area for the kids!
There's a council building near the library (Church Square) they have cycle paths and all manner of leaflets.
And it's always worth getting a local paper (Evening Telegraph)
- church square bus station our streets and town of scunthorpe kill the police
- The millionaires circuit in scunthorpe is served by several "ten bob millionaires" who have no money apart from the million they owe in loans.
- New Catagory - Mobile Phones & Accessories
GMC on Ashby High Street has everything! Apart from the norm they have top of the range phones at great second hand and refurb prices. They deal with all networks and can fix faulty phones sometimes while you wait.
Telephone 01724 858585
- lot of glue sniffers and care in the community nutters
- The fact that Scunthorpe's name contains an expletive has long irritated the town's moral majority. However, a 1994 proposal to rename the town "Shorpe", omitting the offending letters, was unsuccessful. A "keep the c**t in Scunthorpe" campaign outweighed the efforts of the pressure group COOS (C**t Out of Scunthorpe), led by local councillor, Ms Griselda Hunderthwaite. Since then, a further group, the Scunning Linguists, has defended the town's name from attack.
- Are there any other sites on Scunthorpe? Its no wonder the place is considered a dump, no-one ever says anything positive about it. Wonder why the population is still there? Perhaps it would be be an improvement if the citizens of Scunthorpe were to shine a more positive light on the place. It will never be anything better than what it is now when everyone does their best to run the place down. Its called 'marketing' If you want the best entertainment, shops, restaurants, clubs, pubs etc to evolve, then invite big business in..dont turn them off..and shut them out. The best philosophy is "If ya cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all" ....and by the way....City Hall are officials elected by the people, for the people and are a reflection OF the people. If they are considered lazy and disinterested..well...need I say more?? I left there in 1973 and the place was considered a dump then...too bad no-body has learned anything in the last 30 years. If this site is a reflection of the views of the majority, I dont hold out much hope for Scunthorpe. Looking in from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ...and wishing I could find a more positive site.
