- The best things in Sefton are all to do with the arts. Netherton Arts Centre, Crosby Civic Hall, The Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport Arts Centre, Orrell Arts Centre, Driftwood Publications. Poetry readings at Stamps in Crosby (1st Monday of every month), poetry competitions organised by Sefton Arts Development, the Sefton Open - a major development, providing opportunities for practising artists to show their work in the best gallery around (The Atkinson) and for local people to see what new work is being done by some of the best British artists alive.
- The adventure playground at the Marina, great fun after a few drinks. The Royal Hotel (my first night as a married woman (Tee Hee) Satterthwaites Custard slices on cold day
- Best thing - undoubtedly the friendliness of the people, I moved from down south a few years ago and I noticed a difference straight away.
- Independent feeling despite proximity to LLiverpool and Bootle (even has its own weekly paper - the Crosby Herald - and football team - Marine F.C.)
- The performances of Everton Ladies football team, who play at Marine football club ground.
- Near to sea and with a long promenade (good for jogging, roller-blading and bicycling against the wind). Beyong prom, path goes through sandhills to Hightown, good walk. Public baths on prom too.
- The parks in Crosby (good bowling greens - bowls now a sport for young people too - adequate public tennis courts and childrens' play equipment, interestings trees and shrubs in Victoria Park, Crosby) and the seafront public gardens at Waterloo (quiet, well-laid out).
- Good halfway location between Liverpool city centre and Formby sandhills (good train connection both ways). Same train for a close good shopping centre, at The Strand in Bootle (Dixons there is okay for computer games, and some alright cafes, bakers and shops for clothes, sports equipment, records, etc, there too). Formby and Freshfield sandhills make wonderful walking area, and play area for kids. Also there is a nature reserve at Freshfield.
- Lots of local activity clubs and societies (some listed in libraries), including good drama group.
- Riding stables at Rothwell's Lane, near the Nag's Head pub (good offers for kids in school hols), friendly.
