- Devonshire Green, Good points = is home to a really good park. Concrete bowled sections, flat banks to subs, pyramid jump middle, grind ledges/viewing seats and some really interesting lines become available quite often. Good flow and the park is in good condition. The park is flood lit till 10:30pm but you can ride after this on a good summer night with a full moon. The Skaters at this park are sheer gentlemen! A top bunch of lads! a massive ammount of Rider and skater respect is present at this park, a sign of the future? The park Is home to some really good riders, some people who are well within the circle of trust in the industry and many pro (well you know what I mean) riders attend the park, even from the states! Bad points = the locals are the most trend influenced crowd I have ever met, they can also be very frosty and unless you drink cider at 10:30 am sitting on your sub 6 LB f-it bike wearing all black and etnies, and didn't shower before attending your going to be a visitor. Surrounding the park is a large ammount of housing for ethnic minorities and about 90% of the time they are really nice people, but there is a small ammount of said people who are looking to grab your bike or bag, and fighting back is a big mistake! so be carfull! The park does not like Tioga tyres and you will be in a nasty way with the icy like concrete Tioga combo. This park gets over run by children on the weekends (as any park does) but go steady take one out and face a hard dad for sure! Female presence is fair to good, but see above comment if you want to get frisky, just don't shower, and take a litre of white lightning and your quids in! ha ha.
There is a huge ammount of street spots in sheffield! go to the Ponds Forge swimming pool, and there are some mellow banks to a metal rail, a lot can be done here! Be brave and ride the Via Ducts for the Duel Carridge way seen from said banks, dodge 70mph oncoming traffic to flat bank-wall ride. move off into the shopping centre and ask or find where Debbenams shop thing is, there you will find some ledges for lefties and righties that are steep as well as long! watch out lefties you pop off quite close to the via duct under the road and many old ladies and such can be taken out at mach 2 after an other wise perfect grind. Just across the yonder from there is the fire station banks from the G Sport advert in Clicked 6 (I think?) very good fun and normally safe to ride without fire engines plowing you down. Up near sheffield Uni (not Hallam) there are some more banks at the hospital, be carfull the guard there is like Jeff Capes on acid with a hangover and he's as rum as they get! don't flap your lips too much or you will be in A&E soon after! trust me! Close to there is a grass bank of a steep incline and about second floor house hight to a 3 to 2 foot wall used as a sub box....very good!
The further south of sheffield you go the more industrial it gets, once out there find the tram line (very easy!) on the horizon you will see sheffields dry slope, and half pipe in the distance. Get level with this (bearing in mind you will be about 3 miles away from it) once level with it still following the tram lines face it. Directly behind you up the hill hidden in trees is a forgotten skate park called by the locals the spoon (?) it's wierd small, and tight, but the fencing surrounding this is very suited to learning back rail anticts, 1 to 1.5 foot transition 1 foot deck to a 1 foot, by ten inch wide fence. Good fun! on your way up to the park try the green hand rail, not steep but hard to get on to, I broke my tooth at the bottom but don't let that put you off ha ha. Get back down to the tram line and ask for the closed down petrol station (close by) this has a closed down forcourt with tonnes of run up to a steep bank to wall ride, and mellow banks to wall rides. A centre chunk of concrete good for a 180 to sproket, stalls, and a tight speedy hop manual/tap to flat bank. It's really good to ride but watch out for gathering on lookers as the police then move you on. There is a lot more there but as a visitor to the city I could only fit this in during my weekend there. All in all go with a friend ask around and you will have a wicked time there.
- devbonshire bowl and theres loads of street
