• Ian O'Brien - techno legend, went to Seevic and now tours all over the world with his string-laden Detroit-influenced sound. He remixed a Lisa Stansfield song (The Line)and called it the "Benfleet 3.30 Mix"
• Lisa forward page 3 girl for the sun back in the early 90's. OOh spencer Ives I used to have a thing with him!!!

• I know who that Russell Crowe loolalike is ...its got to be Keith Butcher he drives a BMW and I live near him and have heard his version of Elvis on Bath nights I hope he does not take his electric giutar in with him or he`ll get the same shock I did [when I heard him]...
• Did you know we have a Russell Crowe [Gladiator] lookalike lives near Linden Leas Benfleet We beleive he is a standin for the star when he`s filming in this country.He drives a BMW and also does a good impersonation of Elvis after a few drinks at parties...wow!
• A guy who used to board the same London bound train as me who looked a dead ringer for Saddam Hussain (between 1991 - 1994-ish), which was funny because the real Saddam Hussain was in hiding!
• Yes David Essex did livenear South Benfleet. In fact he lived in Thundersley near to the Woodmans Arms pub.
• Spencer Ives - Used to play soccer for Southend United and West Ham. Now living in Sydney, Australia (Coach for Sydney United).
• I thought that a member of Showaddywaddy (or was it Rubettes?) had house next to mine when I lodged as a teacher in 1970s.
• Chris Fulford - now a well known actor, attended Appleton late 60's and early 70's. The man who wrote 'Those magnificent men and their flying machines' lived half way up bread & cheese hill (one of those houses in the trees you can see on the left going up) alledgedy
• The Prodigy have been known to frequent a house in Vicarige Hill in Benfleet. They have also been seen shopping in Gateway.
• John Chambers - British Sidecarcross Champion 1998 as passenger with Pete Clark. See http://www.sidecarcross.com/teams/clark/index.shtml. John is also an expert roofer.
• There is a snooker player called Brian Morgan who has appeared at the World Championships a few times.

• Jan Pedderston (something like that anyway, he's a motorbike racing champ apparently), and I've been told that David Essex used to own a house here as well but I'm not so sure about that one.
