Cheap Food in South Woodford, East London*
Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy
You can tell us more about South Woodford.
Cheap Food
- 2 luxury Italian restaurants in George Lane, plus Pizza Express. One Luxury Chinese restaurant on Woodford High Road. Lots of takeaway shops and 2 great fish and chip shops, both with a restaurant at the back.
- Best indian in South Woodford probably remains the Ajanta (eat-in and take-away). Meghna Grill and Jubraj (Jubraj is new and in the former 'Tasty Bites' premises) are also quite good. The tandoori stuff from the Jamuna take-away is excellent (and can be particularly value on Tuesday nights when they sometimes have half price promotions running) and there other stuff is also pretty good.
The best chinese restaurant is Ho-Ho (in Woodford Road). Dynasty (in woodford road, opposite the QMW site) does an all you can eat type arrangement. Wing Sing (in George Lane, just down teh hill from the Railway Bell) does quite nice food in cheap and cheerful old fashioned cafe type surroundings and also does take-away. The best chinese takeaway (and delivery) is however the Yellow River (George lane, opposite Woodford Baptist Church).
Nino's (Italian, George Lane) is good but not cheap.
The Ark (fish restaurant, former pub premises in Hermon Hill) is supposed to be good.
Pizza Express (top of George Lane) is exactly as you would expect.
- We have Many restaurants. A Starburger, Burger King and a Chicken Cottage - they are all take-aways, as well as a couple of Chinese take aways. We also have a Chinese and a few Indian Restaurants.
- Lots.... Pizza Express, Pizza Hut, Chicken Cottage, Burger King, Nino's Italian, Starburger, Tasty Bites (chinese and indian takeaway) and there's a great, busy and noisy Italian restaurant just down the road in Woodford - great pasta. Oh and who can forget the most student-worshipped takeaway of them all - Kebabland! A must for anyone who likes kebabs, or is a student.
