Favourite Building
  • churchfields junior school
  • SNARESBROOK CROWN COURT, GREAT HISTORIC MONUMENT LOOKS LIKE A CASTLE
  • There are not that many really special buildings in south woodford itself. There is the view accross Eagle Pond from Snaresbrook Road to Snaresbrook Crown Court and the statue of Winston Churchill on Salway Hill. There are two impressive georgian houses, one next to the Dagenham Motors service centre and another between the White Hart and St Mary's Church. The George pub and the Eagle pub are quite nice.
  • Easily The Mansion next to the student lodgings, I have no idea what it is though.
  • Woodford Baptist Church
  • Creed Hall!!!!!! Sorry - It's where I live in my studency. I know it's a 13-floor block of flats, it's made of concrete panels, the windows blow out if you open them in the wind, the bathroom bits have holes in the skirting boards and strange beetle-type weevils are seen crawling around, the lifts break every so often, there's always a breeze blowing around, the kitchens need a bit of a clean, and everything has that kinda "musty" smell about it, but it just appeals to me. There's something special about how it cuts through the breezes (or rather the smoky pollution-filled air of the North Circular), the spectacular views as seen from the 10th floor (or anywhere else), the way it's always warm, even in winter, the really nice hot powerful showers, the fact that one of the hotplates on the cooker doesn't want to come on, and the way it's just _there_! It's been there since the 1960s and is going to go soon - which is why it should be valued before it's gone! It might seem like an ugly block of flats (or student rooms) with smelly rotting students inside, but really, it's a great place. And it's where I'm spending my first year, dammit!!!
  • the cricket pavillion on woodford green. It seeminly has little point, offers little shelter from the rain, looks quite outdated and ugly, but its home to many urban myths and legends.
