- THE GEORGE

- The best beer is served at The Cricketers (McMullens pub in Woodford Road past the Peugeot garage heading towards Woodford Green). Some might find the crowd a bit middle aged, but since South Woodford is quiet pleasant leafy and suburban, so are most of the people that live there.
A lot of people go to the George in Wanstead, a Wetherspoons pub (i.e. cheap) which can be great but can get overcrowded, particularly on friday nights and is at its worst around the end of school terms when an extremely fresh faced crowd descends to give the smirnoff ice / bacardi breezer a thrashing.
- Jets on the otherside of George Lane is quite good on Sat. nite! The crowd is quite smart and they play decent music!
- The George next to the cinema, is for a younger crowd, a very YOUNGER crowd. The Railway Bell is for the older generations.
- We have a Hoogshead, Railway Bell, and The George.
- The White Hart just opposite QMW halls is good for a quiet drink in the evening, or a game of pool, or to watch football on a huuge projector screen. The pub just over the railway is quite good too for a great atmosphere - lots of people to talk to. Hogshead on George Lane is mainly packed with young, up-and-coming types and students who want a cheap drink. Nice wine there too. 0181 the student bar at the halls of residence may be reputed for watering down beer and spirits but really it's a good place to go and socialise with other students. They also hold film nights, music-themed nights and excellent parties - like the Salsa night, Halloween Party, Xmas Party and lots of other booze-up opportunities. The drinks are pretty cheap too. Especially on Happy Hour (all night) where a pint is £1 and most spirits are reduced too. The pool tables are normally very busy! Table Football is also a must when you're there - you can't beat whacking a little ping pong ball with little plastic men!!!!
