A Grandfather's Plea From the Past
I am not sure who you may be or where you might be living, I can only assume that if you are reading this you have some interest in family history and that’s good because of the pickle that my ggggrandaughters Pam and Brenda, have found themselves in when trying to find out where I came from, who my parents were and if I had any brothers and sisters. I used to live Priory Close Churchfields from 1955 to 1974, I have two sisters Yvonne and Daphne and a brother Alan amd I attended Churchfields School and St Barnabas Girls School, is there anyone still living locally in this area that might remember me
  • Re: Old friends by Christallia Murray (Member 10144157) on 26-Jan-2005
Hi Geraldine, I lived in Peel Road, and also went to Churchfields (63/64) and St. Barnabas (64/67) before moving away. Looking at the dates (I'm 51), I don't suppose we met, but you or your sisters may remember (probably) the first black family that moved into the area in 1963. Mr sister's name is Glenda and mybrother is Ralph. I knew the Hay twins, did you?
    Regards.

The Bell by easy tiger (Member 10128687) on 21-Jul-2004
The Railway Bell has seriously gone downhill since Carl took it over (ok, it was never the best pub) but at least the toilet cubicles had doors on them and the landlord had social skills.
What are other peoples views on this?

  • Re: The Bell by I MacC (Member 10159386) on 3-Aug-2005
    Hi,
Yes I totally agree. was a good pub but since all the irish and scots moved on it appears to have gone downhill. is les muir still proping up the bar in there.
