  • the C.A Baaaar!
  • the railway is a traditional east end pub. down to earth normal people!!! darts and football, west ham fans welcome!!!everyone welcome, no drugs,no fights, great atmosphere. great beer. howard carter weds nts, bands dj at weekends.colin brooks
  • Crier now the youth been chucked out...all hail malc!
  • town crier, the whale bone and sweetharts
  • Curlew on Sundays - a home for beer & quizzes
  • The Whalebone is great i used to work there and its even better no its had the refurb, Town Crier has quality music on a Thursday night, you can always find Carys, Nat Rat, Hay TN and co Jhonny Changing it in there!!
  • No pub has ever been as good as The Oakland. The Karaoke night with Howard was its peak. Matthew (now Councillor!) Lewis, Outhere Sisters, Tenerife Twins, Barry Hatt, Murrough, and Hippy and Magic made that night a part of woodham's history! the wednesday indie nights ruled too. Nowadays it's the Acorns bar which on first impressions is pretty good, i had a good evening there. Sweethearts is still poor, Town Crier has improved a little, The Railway is much better than before, Shaw Farm is Shaw Farm is Shaw Farm (ie you know what to expect), and the Curlew is still top drawer on Sundays.
  • Prince of Wales is Stow Maries, what a joke! So cross with them! They cancelled our wedding reception with no explanation or apology, despite us booking the wedding based on their convenient date. They gave us just a couple of months notice! Do they realise how far ahead you need to book a reception!! Then they have the bloody cheek to deny all knowledge of our booking. We are not the only ones, they have done it to some other couples too. If i don't get an apology from them i will have to go to the local papers!
  • Beware of the PRINCE OF WALES don't ever book a wedding there as they will cancel the last minute! They have done it to 3 couples this year already!!
  • The Oakland circa 1992-1997 - Legendary. Elvis, Howard the DJ, Councillor Matt 'The Legend' Lewis, Jon 'Magic' Morter, Terry the Aussie, Barry Hatt, Murrough O'brian, Howard the Chef, Colin the doorman, Vicky Chef, The outhere Sisters, Several Buckets of Fish, Chris the Hippy......stuff of legends
  • Loads of pubs, if you go to a pub more than three times in a month or six months you're bound to see most of the same faces every time you go in there. Wuoldn't go Ferrers arms unless I missed my train and there was a hurricane. Shaw Farm is very quiet nut better in the summer so that you can sit outside with ur mates and get sloshed. All the pubs are quite young and some continually get younger but hey we've all done it so what can I say.
  • c a bar, crier, jaydeez, curlew and whalebone
  • Town crier is wedged with schoolkid puffer jackets & football obsessed bar-flies, Sweatharts is tiny and when you walk in the "regulars" wonder what your doing there, the Curlew's like someones livingroom, the railway pub's done a good decor job recently, the whalebone is good all round, Shaw Farm is an ok family pub...not too cheap...bit stingy on the meat in the carvery and takes forever to get a drink at the bar, you've got to be 75 to blend in at the village hall bar.
  • I was recently a visitor to SWF. i stayed in the Oakland Hotel, i would like it noted that it is the dirtiest and most unwelcoming place i have stayed in. the management hide behind there secetaries and are not worthy of being in a management positon. on a lighter note however, The Lodge was a gorgeous place to stay in and the food was absoloutly lovely so thumbs up to them! Also to Bunter at CM3, thanx 4 being cool.
  • The Crier is the best place and Mark's a top geezer
  • The Town Crier: where the violent, lifeless, pathetic and ugly meet.
  • Village Hall pub is cheap. Average age of drinkers is about 70. Exact opposite of Town Crier.
  • Wot dat one nexta da Station? Aw yeah, me know, Ogres.
  • Crier is good on Friday night only - if you dont mind drugs being passed right under your nose. The Railway (Ferrers Arms) is great family pub. Tigers holds a brilliant Karioke night on Thursdays
  • Look, just bring back oakland karaoke, and matthew lewis.
  • pubs in woodham are crap! there are kids everywhere, are the bartenders blind or just desperate for business?! its always packed too, same with sweethearts. its best to get out of the town to go to pub.
  • looking for a decent night out in south woodham? you might as well jump in a nice cm3 cab and ask for the bell in woodham ferrers. nice grub, pool and two highly sucsessful dart teams. nice stella and real ales. so say sod off to fresh faced pubs and head up to THE BELL
  • THE TOWN CRIER HAS A NEW,ALL PERVADING, ATMOSPHERE. IT IS THE LOOS!! DESPITE IMPORTING GALLONS OF AIR FRESHENER THE PUB NOW STINKS OF URINE. PUNCH HAVE NOT SPENT A BEAN ON THE PLACE SINCE THEY TOOK IT OVER AND NOW TIME IS HAVING ITS REVENGE. OTHERWISE THE PUBS OK PROVIDING THEY DONT RUN OUT OF BEER{ WHICH THEY DO MOST WEDNESDAYS}
  • The Ferrers is brill- especially that they have now started a karaoke night on Sunday evening. So much better than the Lodge.
  • whalebone, shaw farm, town crier, by far the best
  • The Curlew is in desparate need of a spring clean and an extractor fan.The larger is better now with the new glasses. Should ditch the pet shop image! Ferrers Arms a bit of a dive but clean and people down to earth. Could do with loosing the colection of dumped car tyres and vans out back!
  • Town crier, Whale bone (shit) the people (staff) treat you like rubbish is you are staff so don't think about working in there.
  • rugby club-cheap beer and a warm welcome for the laydees
  • salcoates pavillion-now owned by the rugby club, cheap beer & good friendly company9have rugby players ever been anything else)also cheap to hire for an evening at only £25.00(if you dont mind rubbing shoulders with the rugby players it is a members club after all)
  • Whaley is OK if you like paying through the nose at Chirstmas Eve n stuff - and also if you like chockablok pub
  • the whalebone is great but it takes a while for the regulars to stop staring at you if you dont live down there like them. the crier is good so long as you dont go in on fridays coz the its full of kids and townies! everyone forgets the lodge coz its on the outscrits so its hard to get to-but go! good kareoke on sundays and the bar manager Scooby is FIT!!!
  • CRAP ONES: Sweethearts,Pansy Joes,Town Crier, GOOD ONES: Shaw Farm,Curlew,Whalebone,Prince Of Wales, OLD MAN'S REST: The Ferrers
  • Sweethearts (upstairs )is good on a friday night. The crier is good 4 having a bud and watching the game.
  • I know that Chick would never even dream of serving under aged people in Sweethearts, but doesn't anyone else realise that there are less than ten pubic hairs amongst the entire pub crowd in there!!!!! The same thing goes for te CA Bar!
  • CURLEW-Good quiz night sundays+wicked sunday lunch for &3.99, SHAW FARM-Good for a relaxing outside/inside drink-up, WHALEBONE-Howard's quiz on sundays is very good+good atmosphere too, SWEETHEARTS-CRAP, TIGERS-CRAP, FERRERS ARMS-OK i spose
  • Nothing but hives for under-aged nobodies to hang out in and pretend that they are really really old.
  • sweetheart sells alcohol to anything that is old enough to talk, which some of their mental ages dosnt even allow that.
  • Thank God the C/A Bar closed
  • Ferrers Arms (B4 you catch a train),Shaw Farm (good beer garden),Whalebone (nice pub grub),Curlew (really good on sunday nights),Sweethearts (crap name+less room than a broom cupboard),Town Crier (a very "FRESH FACED" crowd, with a wide choice of drug-induced punch-ups),Prince Of Wales (good atmosphere+no silly pathetic little drinks,ALL real ales),CA Bar (the UK's first bar made entirely of Lego),Tiger Joes (Kevin and Perry and all their puffer jacket pals drink there at weekends, the place is a ghost town at other times),Saltcoats Bar (full of cider-drinking rugby stereotypes)
  • The TOWN CRIER is a glorifed youth club, over 17's may find other pubs a bit more challenging, TJ's should be shut and return to being the Oakland, SHAW FARM is nice during the summer, the PRINCE OF WALES for the REAL drinkers
  • I agree that tiger's was better as the old Oakland and i work there unfortunately and have to put up with (sorry you won't print that kind of language) customers!!(not all of them though) There are some local pub celeb's to watch out for including Barry Hat, Manos, Odbod, Jan and the Karaoke master Matt the Legend (you know who he is). Izzy's famous too!
  • sweethearts. few others i think.
  • Whalebone is full of the clicks - be prepared to be stared at if they haven't seen you before. Curlew is NAFF but has good real ales. Town Crier is Ok if you are 16. Ferrers is handy for a quick one when you get off the train.
  • The C.A Bar where most of the patrons seem to have found the secret to eternal youth, cos most of them dont look like theeyve started secondary school
  • the town crier has a great family atmosphere alng with shaw farm being pretty good
  • 'The Curlew' is often missed, largely cos it is a bit out of the way in the newest (80s-90s) part of town, on Gandalf's Ride (I think). It comes fully equipped with pool table, dart board and nice bar, but the atmosphere is not quite so villagey as the old, more established venues.
  • Town Crier is by far the best and most popular pub in woodham. Also sweethearts, whalebone, shaw farm and the Ferres Arms which Jon Hartson has been found in on previous occassions.
  • 4 of them.
