Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains in Southampton, Hampshire*
The more interesting clothing stores
You can tell us more about Southampton.
Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
- Beatnik Emporium
- 5-0 store
- Moist is the only shop in Southampton that sells interesting clothes that you know everyone else won't be wearing too.
- Love the bargate shopping centre. Really good little corset shop, an NME store, Moist and two gothic / alternative stores; the same company has a store in the Marlands centre which is huge full of rock, gothic and emo clothes which is great. I also like Raw shoes in the Marlans for Buffallo boots etc.
- h&m, topshop.. two shops to get u through life really
- FCUK< BENNETTON
- WearAbouts of Woolston. Excellent range of clothing including XXXL+, school uniforms and Scout & Guide Uniforms. Been there for years.
- Brick Shirt House for vintage band tees and cool skirts for the girls (by Them). Gosh for PVC, Corsets etc. Do vollers corsets in there and seem to have a permenent sale rail. Both in the Bargate Center. Beatnick Empourium at the other end of town (near goblets) for vintage stuff. Aug 05
- TOPMAN, 5 O'Store
- The Beatnik Emporium has now moved to across from the Guildhall (Above Bar?). Still occasionally has some good stuff but more rental orientated these days. Other than that? Go to London or Brighton, my friend.
- All the high street lovelies are here.
- The Brick Shirt House in the Bargate is worth a look they have a load of real retro stuff.
- Bunker in the Bargate, Soviet retro gear like hammer and sickle t-shirts and Red Army fur coats
- Couple of punk girl shops dotted around...Jacaranda in the Marlands is expensive but alright...If you want good clothes, go to Camden market. Cheap and splendid, if not totally ruined by commercialisation over recent years.
- Try the Marlands centre, Jacaranda for accessories, Lillies, Legends, Fashion Jeans, all good, plus, if you're feeling wealthy there's Just Add Water and Moist.
- Loads of good shops in West Quay - I would say John Lewis for variety!
- That nasty Bargate Centre has actually got a couple of decent shops for xtreme wear/skaters stuff.
- The best clothes shops are the shop with no name in the bargate which is opposite another great shop called Alternative Options, then there's also Jacaranda in the Marlands which is great for gothic accesories.
- burtons cirro cittero
- just add wate, board riders, alternate options, tk max and of course arm surpluse
- Beatnik Emporium in old Northam Road - 60's 70's, smoking paraphernalia etc. and a hire shop.
Jacaranda in the Marlands in town is good but expensive.
- MOIST!!!!!!!1OH AND ALL CLUBED UP THAT IS ONE COOL SHOP
- Since the new mega shopping centre opened [accessible from Above Bar Street, or basically, centre town] there is loads of choice in every department.
- the brickshirt house , down the side of east street is great for retro clothing
- all over the place, its a town !! beware the trendy sk8/surf shops they will rip you off
- Da wikid shop outside da Bargate wiv Iceburg n Moschino n da rest, but I haven't been 4 a while so can't rememba da name. Shame no one else goes there either, townies could do wiv a make ova!!
- I love Schuh in the west Quay centre
- movement clothing downstairs in the bargate, cord flares..£22 BARGAIN ME THINKS!!
- tk max, primark and h andm bargain citys
- Brick shirt house, cheap skate jeans wide variety of work/hawaiin shirts also selling som goff rip off stuff.
Alternative Options, known as A-O by its frequent users selling mostly non-original band clothes but still good quality and cheap
- Southampton is probably the best place in this area for clothing. You have all your high street shops and main shops in West Quay the 250 million pounds shopping centre (which is pretty crap actually) Then theres the Marlands which if you explore a bit has some pretty cool shops. Legends is good if a bit pricey
and the best shop in Southampton is probably Jackaranda down by withit which si also good. Theres a load of punk or alternative clothing in the BargAte.
- Lots of girls shops, unfortunately. Few good mens outfitters
- Alternative Options is one of the greatest shops in southampton, it has all you Goth clothes, band hoodies, big trousers(my fave) medieval dresses and tops and some v. outrageous stuff! There are changing rooms (not communial, what was up with miss selfridge huh?!) It plays cool music while you shop and it's purple v. important!
- Plenty of good bokes gear in West Quay, Envy, H&M etc. USC is pretty good, but has a strange policy of putting clubber/skate gear (firetrap, airwalk etc) right next to lager-boy gear (Burberry, Henry Lloyd etc) ....
- Object used to be the most ridiculously pretentious clothes shop EVER. Staff with heads firmly ensconced up holes. But they did sell Diesel clothes....so i'll let them off.
- Jailhouse has now closed down. However, if you are looking for goth, alternative clothing, band shirts, etc. there is a new shop just opened in the Bargate Centre, called Alternative Option. They will also be stocking Alchemy stuff, rubber gear and designer clothes. They also have reasonable prices in there, which is always a bonus!
- Beatnik on Old Northam Road actually sells good new clothes (!) believe it or not.
- "JUST ADD WATER" is a bit crappy compared to "MOIST", but still good : both in the Bargate Shopping centre. There is also "LEGENDS" in the Marlands Shopping Centre!
- oasis, pilot, benetton, urban angel(near Eastgate carpark), M2(if it ever opens again), Next, River Island, Topshop, Debenams(for morgan, giant, warehouse etc)
- The shops to look out for if you are into skating, or surfing are Offbeat sportz, Legends, Just add water and Moist
- Bargate Centre and Marlands Centre (www.marlands.co.uk) have some good individual shops, and the £250 million West Quay development will bring a lot more high street names when it opens in Autumn 2000.
- Jailhouse Clothing Company - St.Mary's Street and Shirley Road for all your goth and biker gear 'Gosh' clothing in The Bargate Centre also stocks a selection of PVC clothing and otherclubwear
- All the normal such as Topshop, Burton, River Island etc
- M2 is the place for Dance orientated people
