The Best Things
  • Lord Street, Birkdale Village, Southport FC, the sea, the pier, friendly people, Botanic Gardens in Churchtown
  • The people, thats right even the scousers!(so u can relax now, ur not gonna have ta "do me in" "lad" or "av me off") and the pier
  • The 11 set by the minni golf place under the pier
  • McDonalds and JJB gym probably.

  • the beach when i get stressed out theres nothing like ozone to calm u down being a sandgrounder roberta lee was born in southport thanks to me mum
  • the nightlife is fairly average, but the range of shows provided by the tourism board (the air show, fireworks displays) are pretty good
  • Summer when the town is full of holiday makers and feels alive.
  • Half decent shops, has a fair - Pleasureland, has its chippys, has a beach.
  • The sea air and the sense of light that it brings. Getting on a train and leaving.

  • THE GROWING BAND OF EVERTONIANS THAT R BORN And BRED HERE THE KOPITES THAT ONLY WEAR THERE RED TOPS WHEN LIVERPOOL ACTUALLY WIN A GAME YET STILL MOAN ABOUT THE MANAGER AND TEAM. THE COCKTAILS IN MALONEYS ROONEY AT HAIG AVE BIZARO CLOTHES SHOP= CLASSY LITTLE NUMBERS THE JB ESTATE AND ALL THE CREW (EXCEPT THE RETARDS ) U KNOW WHO U ARE
  • The local bands are the only thing this town has going for it
  • Some nice skating spots and some kick-ass people.
  • What remains of the original architecture of Southport- like the old Safeways building on the south end of Lord Street. Please someone move in before the council give permission to have it demolished like everything else!

  • How da fuk can u say dat there are 2 many 'towny-type' places! and dats a bad thing, how? Just cause you fink dat hanging around Birkdale Trainstation on a friday night is a gud place to hang out. Try coming 2 Bedy and see how far you get slagging us off! U no u shud really slag us off to our faces than do it through A computer screen. DIK HEDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fantastic shops, clean streets, beautiful houses, well-dressed, well-spoken residents, spoiled by the odd scouser. Even the buses are full of posh people instead of the great unwashed.

  • The Best thing about Southport is that I don't have to read such rubbish as I have read on here today!
  • Loads of restaurants. Lord St still looks fab despite some tatty bargain shops.

  • A leisurely stroll around the picturesque Marine lake, with a large bottle of MD from Sandhus.

  • Great music scene, clubs are ok.
  • It's full of Scousers, and the stupid locals oor "sandgrounders" hate us! It's in Merseyside! Ha!! It's run by Labour politicians from Bootle ha! ha! ha!! I only worked there from 1979 to 1985.
  • Most of the locals won't live as long as me, although the way they drive at pedestrians I might be wrong (don't OAPs have to have an eye test before being allowed to drive a ton-weight car?).
  • Lord Street in summer, its lovely.

  • THE SEVENTIES NIGHT IN WAVERLEYS BAR EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT.THE CHEESEY DJ KEV LINDEN IS UNBELIEVABLE!
  • A night out at any venue with music supplied by Fox Island Entertainments. Excellent!!
  • It's like a clean version of Blackpool.
  • Lord Street, any season.
  • Some of the students coming in the summers. I spent five marvellous summers in Southport. And Pete Martin, all the Emmet's family
  • The Buses: cheap,clean and on time , unlike the ones in Dundee ! Ouch
  • The Local Radio Station - 107.9 Dune fm, It's realy Cool! The music festival is at Pontins - there is no Butlins in Southport!!!
  • Best Thing about Southport is the good atmosphere when the sun is shining in Summer and it's packed with day-trippers.
  • There is one major major excellent thing about Southport (apart from Alan Hansen living there), and that is the Southport Dance Music Weekenders, which are at Butlins on the seafront and happen every 6 months (or so). The last one (Nov 3,4,5) was bloody excellent. Be there.
  • There is a Vineyard church at Meols Cop school.
  • It has'nt got any good points apart from the fact that ist close to Liverpool!!!!!!
  • Lots of small friendly Hotels (Bed & Breakfasts) cheap taxis.We had a great time at the Grand National. THANKS SOUTHPORT
  • The friendly people, the basketball team
  • The new bars (Flava, Glasshouse, QPQ etc)
