Cheap Food in Southport, Merseyside*

Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

You can tell us more about Southport.

Cheap Food
  • Swiss Chalet set back at the Monument in the centre of town - first floor. Really good Welsh rarebit
  • Bettys cafe, the swan chippy (best in the north west)
  • small sandwich shop behind southport market building
  • my favourite restaurant is an utter gem that i only discovered recently. Chez Moi right next to Robertos near the Bold Hotel on Lord Street, small intimate setting, perfect for early evening dinner, best steak in Southport id say. There peppercorn sauce is to die for, cheap prices, great for good first impressions on a first date. Another place to go which isnt cheap but certainly has status is the Wrehouse brasserie, which attracts the local celebrities and such celebs as Jordan, Dean Gaffney, Sid Owen, Jennifer Ellison are all often seen dining in this restaurant. p.s the foods pretty decent too, the jaffa cake pudding concoction is fabulous
  • lambs aiece ,golden dragon mcdonalds kfc
  • lidl is good if you like german food but mind the oaps they tend to block the isles when ur in a rush
  • lots on ocean plaza and down lord street
  • gastronomie sandwiches on wesley street - stupidly cheap, great food.
  • the italian kitchen is a modern restaurant thats not too expensive, but if you cant afford £25 each, in most restaurants £35+ each, each then you cant afford the restaurants in southport. fast food is all you can get. macdonalds and kfc.
  • They have the fast food chains like McDonalds, KFC and Subway and loads of Chinese Chippys, Indians etc. There's not alot of English chippys except the handful near Funland etc.
  • Chez Moi on Lord Street is excellent, the manager(?) has a very good knowledge of food and wine.
  • pizza hut on ocean plaza turkish delight for chips at 2 in the morning after clubbin kfc eastbank st
  • Sahara on Manchester road for the best and biggest kebabs
  • the butty shop down market street make nicceeeee sarnies!
  • the Food Lab.... they make nice Pizza's.... but go to Pizza Hut Ocean Plaza (I work there)... ha ha ha
  • The Curzon on Lord Street. Good service and a nice atmosphere.
  • Garden of Death Indian....a true piss heads curry house
  • SPOILT FOR CHOICE! burger king - oh wait nope, MA BAYD
  • u cant get betta in southport than sahara
  • hamidos on liverpool road is the best take away. morroccon food! there is nowhere like it!
  • butty shop down market street,at the side of the market ,do a mean 'breakfast special',2 bacon ,2 eggs,2 sausage and tomatos or mushrooms and whatever,£2.35.
  • CHIPPIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Spice Paradise Balti House on 12 Union Street is excellent!
  • ASDA!!!!
  • Spice Paradise Balti House down Union street near the casino, mulligans, and next to the jasmine tree and the guest house serves the most amazin indian food at great prices! A Must for true lovers of traditional indian cuisine. It makes all the other indian restaurants look like shit houses.
  • Maccy d's
  • The Shamraat behind Lord Street is a real old-fashioned post-pub curry house. The food's good and the staff are friendly. The Belash used to be another good Indian but only if you are willing to wait until the next day for your meal. I have twice walked out without eating after waiting over an hour for a starter. Some very good Italians on and around Lord St., especially Mario and Roberto's and Casa Italia. Once saw Kenny Dalgliesh in Pizzeria Mama Mia. Fleetwood's and Harper's on Eastbank St are excellent chip shops.
  • The best after hours takeaway is TURKISH! Although if your hungry after a night out, expect to queue! It's well worth it though!
  • Turkish Delight and Zete's Place!
  • yateseys is a classy "pub" n is kynda loude at night but moderate by day n good grub n prices to match
  • Turkish Delight on Coronation Walk is the be all and end all for kebabs and pizzas, and if you fancy a fight, try going there of an evening Weldons chippy in Birkdale Village is good for Steak Canadian buttys
  • Joy King Chinese restaurant,Seabank Rd off Lord Street(Tel 500016) Best Chinese I've ever had - nice cheap banquet on somedays. Spicy chicken wings that put KFC to shame.
  • Junk food a plenty. It's a good place to get incredibly fat. Once you've achieved a sufficiently large frame, wear next to nothing and hang out in any of the low-class pubs or clubs. It's guaranteed to get you laid.
  • Mcdonaldz, loadz of chipies knockin about
  • The Warehouse Brasserie was excellent. A bit expensive, but tasty food. If you fancy something a bit more tradtional to take your mum and dad, try The Prince of Wales Hotel, which has a superb cavery lunch, seven days a week.
  • That chippy at Cable St. is the best thing in town, the best thing in Merseyside, best thing in UK, best thing in Europe and best thing in the whole world
  • Cathay Garden is a really good Chinese at the far end of Lord Street. Don't be put off by the sports cars outside - it's not that expensive.
  • Loads of good places down side streets off Lord Street - Le Frog and the Salamander are two.
  • The best is a Mexican in Stanly Street: without a doubt the best Mexican around.
  • Reuters - first class restaurant Flava - best cafe bar for many a long mile Kavoos - for that essential 2am doner kebab
