The Knowhere Guide

The Best Things in Southsea, Hampshire*

If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Southsea.

The Best Things
  • Standing on Southsea Beach at the quiet end (o/s the Marines Museum) and looking out over a clear blue sparkling sea!
  • my mates in southsea......bo proper
  • the harbour/sea front/short journey to countryside when you get fed up with the traffic.
  • All of it - its a village in a City
  • The people, the summertimes, southsea common and the fact that you can pretty much walk anywhere.
  • The amount of sk8ers around, the willingness of some pubs to accept rather young looking customers.
  • Clarence pier
  • Lots of open space between Southsea and the beach.
  • Southsea Common and all the pubs along it.
  • It's difficult to be far away from anything good in Southsea - there's so much compacted in to one small space. Most entertainment is within walking distance from wherever you happen to be. Albert Road is fantastic for a weekend shop, having a wide variety of second hand stores, craft shops, new age shops, record stores (Ross), comic shops, skate shops, cafes, and even a sci-fi store. You really can't go wrong - it's pointless naming stores individually when a walk along this road is bound to see you coming up trumps with whatever you are looking for.
  • The sea. The surprising number of Georgian terraces all over the place. The Common. The fact that it's a treasure-trove of stuff you'd never expect to find (there's a Danish vice-consulate, for crying out loud). Sometimes feels like a village stuck in the middle of an urban sprawl. Lovely in summer.
  • NIGHT LIFE,PLEASENT,PARTIES,ETC.
