Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

You can tell us more about Southsea.

Cheap Food
  • Eat out in Gunwharf, Le Strada and Ha!Ha! are both cheap and great.
  • Soprano's - Palmerston Road. Fantastic food, huge portions, cosy lively atmosphere. Can't beat it for fun, value and a feast! Not just an Italian - does masses of veggie, seafood, steaks, fish etc too
  • gunwharf quays is good for food.also palmerston road.
  • Marmion Road, next door to 'Leightons Opticians' is the best place for pick-you-up bacon sandwiches on rainey days, great service and your food is cooked fresh whilst you wait. (I always forget it's real name)
  • Edge of the Wedge cafe bar, part of the Wedgewood Rooms music venue (as already endorsed by others), has a new & improved menu, including all day breakfast, excellent specials & a selection of coffees & teas. Good value food. cocktails too, if that's your thing.
  • The best roast dinners i've ever had - (apart from my mums of course) are at the Edge of the wedge on albert road - Check it out on a sunday - chilled music and great company make it excellent for recovering from the night before. best chinese is noble house on Osbourne road. If you like thai food the Bangkok takeaway on albert road is superb.
  • Maky D's Burger King etc... the usual
  • The italien restaurent that is around the corner La Mageritas it has the best food around.
  • Indian Cottage, at the far end of Albert Road. Not the cheapest, but consistently good
  • Sur La Mer - Always great french food and service with a nod and a wink from Ian
  • Went to Monks Wine bar this evening. Very nice. Good Indians and kebabs to be had. Ken's Kebabs should be known nationwide.
  • Sur la mer, a french style bar/bistro. Nice food, drink and atmosphere. Opposite Route 66 night club.
