You can tell us more about St Andrews.

Cinemas
  • The multi-cenema is excellent
  • Cinema in St Andrews is fairly old school. It has late night showings on Wednesdays at 11pm of old classics or more recent films you might've missed and would love to see on the big screen. Other than that, tends to keep up with the recent releases though only shows 3 films at a time you can usually find what you want. The new 'VIP' chairs offer great comfort and reclining whilst watching your favourite film.
  • New Picture house.. cosy, & does the job.. Late night showings on Wednesdays are worth the effort!
  • There's only one cinema here - The New Picture House. It's an independent cinema, so it can't always get the latest releases straight away, but it does play old or popular films at the late night showing on Wednesdays and you can request your favourite films for this showing on their website. It also hosted the Scottish Premiere of "Love, Actually" in November 2003. It only has 3 screens, the smaller 2 are tiny - it's like watching a film in someone's living room - very cosy!
  • the "new picture house" on North Street. It has, shall we say, character, with it's 2 cinemas, the smallest of the 2 being more like a living room than anything else! Good for a rainy day though or when there's nothing else to do. It has late night showings on wednesdays of classics and sunday matinees. The upstairs bit of Cinema 1 has gone all swanky aswell, with drinks holders and such like (oooh!)
  • The NPH is a good example of the dying 'great big cinema' breed. Good place to see films that are 'jolly' or scary as the mainly-student audiences are not afraid to laugh/scream/heckle out loud. Nice painted panels of local scenes too.
  • NPH. Recently refurbished. As good as other people have said. Web-page: www.nphcinema.co.uk.
  • The New Picture House - excellent, looks like it has never been touched. None of your homogenous, characterless multiplex crap here. Cheap and shows a good selection, including late night oldies once a week. One low point was when we went to see The Third Man - when Harry gave his 'cuckoo clock' speech the pretentious Yahs applauded. I nearly projectiled!
  • New Picture House ... actually rather old but has two screens
  • The New Picture House. 2 screens: one a half decent size ,the other is like watching TV at home. Still it's cheap and pretty good. If you want hi-tec you can alwats go to Dundee!
