• Them fuckin jets scarin the shit out of yi when yir lyin on the beech relaxin haein peace and quiet noisy things
• Drunken, noisy students all the time and drunken, noisy local oinks at the weekends.
• Isolated and boooooring. Lots of wannabe-poshs. The uni is not that good in international terms. Much ado about nothing, really...
• Some (not all)of the students and their pompus attitude towards the locals or peasants. a minority of the local teenage riff raff,
• Hooray Henrys,rich student who probably do own the place,tourists/golf/yanks/golfgolfgolf.......
• Lack of good clothes shops, but the Overgate and Wellgate centres in Dundee are only a short bus ride away.
• Anti English, nay racist, sentiment from the previous contributor to this site! Golf, ditch the golf, keep the students.
• - St Andrews SUCKS! - The university has got a better reputation than it deserves. - ALL THE FUCKING YANKEE WANKERS!! the american students are just a bunch of assfuckers! - The town consists of the university, which is claustrophobic. - The tourists - you have no life - THE GODDAMN ENGLISH PEOPLE!!!
• Rude people. The place is teeming with them, whether they be yahs/american tourists/locals/students - for some people there are loads of pushers, shovers, arguers and idiots (I work in a pub).
• I dont think all the locals hate the students. I think they hate the fact that half of them are English and act like they own the place :)
• No clubs unless you count "The Bop" at the union - basically a school disco.
• Occasional town-gown antagonism. Much more frequent are the groups of drunken idiots (I assume they're students, but I don't really know) that drift along the streets in the middle of the night, bawling at the tops of their voices and being aggressive at anyone they see. Prince William arriving to fuck up everyone's rent bills.
• Rich and/or English students braying about the place like the wankers they are. There's definately not enough student-bashing going on. They pretend they're poor but really they're taking a couple of years out their cossetted Daddy-will-pay lifestyle and try to gain some credibility. Doens't wash you arrogant, pompous bastards. From what I've read here, St. Andrews may be letting it go to it's head a wee bit - I MEAN A FRIGGIN JUICE BAR IN FIFE! I'll not even mention the imminent arrival of Prince SilverSpoon. Keep the golf, ditch the uni.
• The Doll's House restaurant - it was my unfortunate experience to choose to take my girlfriend there on her birthday. I have never been treated so badly in my life, the service was terrible and at the end of it they almost threw us out. Complaints are treated with derision so it is my advice to just avoid the place.
• Traffic in town
• Tourists! They all arrive just in time for our exams and it takes us about twice as long to get anywhere not great when you're stressed. Some Townies have a real problem with students and most of the old folk are worse. The lack of shops but perhaps that's good considering most of us are poor students.
