Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
- The Music Box... it's ok... I've been going here for a cpl years on a Friday night... loads of fit single and divorced ladies out for a good time... never failed to pull yet. I know some of them come here and the Tap Room just to pull married blokes like me! Vicki, you know who I mean!, x
- Just read some comments relating to the Music Box - HA! What a load of twaddle, I can't even be arsed to say to much!
According to the local rag we've got to queue for an hour or so and there's 500 plus punters inside - o really! Guess that's why they're given away free tickets in A FREE NEWSPAPER!!!
Wow, the cultural delights of the likes of z list "celeb's" such as, er hem... Kenzie!
You're 'avin' a laugh! And for the promoters birthday bash, gosh, real modest guy he is, advertising his own birthday in the local rag!
Change the bloody promoter NOT the DJ's!!!
I could say more but I do believe I could lose the will to live.
On the plus note the music ain't to bad, Jack B is a character and the new "resident" can mix a few toons but bring back Trevor, he's sorely missed, Fridays and Saturdays aren't the same, no party atmosphere. Stop wasting money on guest DJ's who play weird and not so-wonderful s*** and get TNT back!
Still, could be worse, could live in Huntingdon or St Neots.....
- Let me break it dwn 4 u.. the clubs in stives aint that bad... then again, they aint that good eitha! The LEL is aight if u got a group of u n u all gna get propa pissed up! da dj playz sum good rnb tunez. The Box as said before is called the box 4 a reason! friday nights r rly gud wit the resident dj hu plays nothin but rnb/hip hop. im nt gna get started on club ice.. ive only bn there 2 or 3 times n frm wot ive seen its full of people ages 30-50 wit a crap selection of tunez!
- In my opinion,
Club Ice - Not bad, bit of a mix all round. Can be a laugh with the right company.
Music Box - Gotta be the better of the bunch, not bad music, doormen do the job, never had any problems in there, always have fun.
The LEL club - Full of kids and thats not on the kids nights, doormen on power trips and the manager is just fat, aggressive, old and sleazy, good combo.
- Why does everyone have such a negative view on the clubs in St.Ives?, It is only a small town and we have three good clubs CLUB ICE, MUSIC BOX and LEL they cater for all ages and likes in music honest! As a fan of club ice in the Broadway with its friendly staff and great music. It may not be as big as the Music box or the LEL but it has a good atmosphere and is open until 2.30Pm so you can even just pop in for a late drink if your not a dancer!! I am pleased to hear that the club is going to be having a refurb in the new year (2007), so why dont people it a chance and pop down you may be surprised!! Good Luck to all the clubs in St.Ives they all work hard trying to give there customers a good night out give them a chance!! xx
- When is the next buffalo global event going to be at the lel? I have never ever seen it so empty. Its like a real buffalo ran through there and scared everyone away. Shoot the promotor and get some real drum n bass in there. v.j.
- THE DIRTBOX IS GOOD ON A FRIDAY BUT THE LEL IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO ON A SATURDAY GOOD TUNES LOADS OF GIRLS GREAT ATMOSPHERE AND GOOD GRUB,ONLY THING WRONG AS THE PERSON HAS SAID BELOW THE MANAGER IS A BULLY ITS A SHAME AS IT HAS BEEN MY FAVOURITE CLUB FOR YEARS BUT I CAN NO LONGER FEEL SAFE THERE AS I MYSELF HAD PROBLEM AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER I GUESS HE DIDN'T LIKE WHAT I SAID AND SLAPPED ME UNCONCIOUS WITH A GUY CALLED SHAWN. YOU WOULD EXPECT BOUNCERS TO DO THAT NOT MANAGEMENT I SHOULD OF SPOKE TO THEM AS I HAVE IN THE PAST, AT LEAST MOONIE AT BOX DON'T TRY AND KILL YOU BUT UPSET HIS BOUNCERS AND YOUR DEAD. P.S.
- If you want to get a good kicking and slapped about a back room on a saturday night from a Fat Bloke called Marty and his brother who looks like a short fat bald version of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" The LEL is the Place to go!!!!!!!!
- HEY WHATS GOIN ON IN THE BOX? HAVE BEEN ABROAD FOR 12 MONTHS AND VISITED WHAT USED TO BE MY FAVOURITE ST IVES CLUB ONLY TO FIND ITS TURNED INTO SOME SORT OF R 'N 'B YOUTH CLUB DIVE! WHATS HAPPENED TO ALL THE UPLIFTING DANCE TUNES? MY GOD IF WHAT THEY'RE PLAYING NOW IS MUSIC I MUST HAVE BEEN CAPTURED AND BRAINWASHED BY THE TALIBAN! FOR GODS SAKE SORT IT OUT BOYS OR RISK GOIN THE SAME WAY AS PASCOES AND THE LEL.
- I think the Clubs in St Ives are pretty OK on the whole - believe me there are a lot worse places to live where the nearest club is 30 miles away! The music box is great although the bouncers leave a lot to be desired - rude! As an "older" person who doesn't get out much I enjoy the Thursday night oldies music - perhaps Moonie (whoever he is - assume he's the manager)might consider getting some nice polite bouncers for a Thursday instead of ones who think they are dealing with children instead of mature sober females who just want to dance with their friends! However, I don't think it deserves the bad press it gets on this site and verbally around the town. The LEL are trying their best and at least they are putting things on for the younger kids (13-17) who have nowhere to go and enjoy the dance scene - perhaps the other clubs might do this occasionally. Club Ice really isn't my thing - but each to their own and I'm sure there are people out there who think its great. I do think the people of St Ives are lucky to have the choice of three reasonable clubs that cater for different tastes and should consider that before complaining about the efforts of these establishments to provide entertainment!
- hey we are a group of girls from ramsey and go to stives most weekends you people who live in stives should be grateful that you have some night clubs
our only venue has been shut and we come to the box and the lion for a good time. if you dont like what you have why do you keep going . as for when dan was at the lel the only reason it was busy was cause all the huntingdon lads and ladetts where in there . o yes and the 13 year olds.
- To be fair i think the Music box is pretty shite it literally is A BOX, the music ent dat good, soooooooo many mingin drawling men in there that just harras u i reli dnt c y ppl big it up!it looks a lot betta from the outside just goes 2 show looks can b deceiving! The bar is good but i wudnt reli say it has the night club atmosphere its more like a leisurely pub just with late hours, its where all da oldies go once the pubs hav shut plus it doesnt hav enough seats!oh and they hav a broken cd player so the music stops all da time whilst they change the cd and The dj dont ever fukn stop tlkn ova da bloody mic so u cnt even get ya groove on!The lel has gone down hill sooooooooooooo much its ridiculous, it is full of loadsa unda age, u'd think the bouncers r bloody blind, eitha dat or MAJORLY perverted! When dan was manager they were getn in like 300-400 every nite but now hes gone hes taken everybody wit him, it used 2 b one out, one in!now ya lucky if wen u wlk in there above 20 ppl in there!WARNING dnt go there netime b4 11 coz ull b VERY lonely!Mind u, ogtta take ma hat of 2 um all there doing there best n were quite lucky 2 hav so many nightclub n pubs so near to us as what we do!
- HEY CAN YOU ALL STOP SLAGGING THE CLUB'S IN ST.IVES - WE ALL DO OUR OWN THING WHICH GIVES YOU ALL A CHANCE TO GO WHERE YOU WANT - THE BOYS AT THE LEL ARE TRYING TO PICK UP THE PEICES AND GIVE YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT ON FRIDAYS WHICH CAN ONLY BE FOR THE GOOD SO SUPPORT THEM IN WHAT THEY ARE DOING . CLUB ICE IS IMPROVING THERE CLUB SO THAT YOU HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AND WE AT THE BOX SPEND LOADS ON GUEST PA'S FOR YOU. AS A SMALL TOWN I THINK THE PEOPLE HAVE IT GOOD SO INSTEAD OF SLAGGING THE PEOPLE TRY N BE GLAD YOU GOT THE BEST AND NOT SHIT LIKE SOME OTHER TOWNS. MOONIE
- The LEL. Buffalo Global. RnB Garage. top london Djs 2 Chart PA's Special Mc and Dj Rythm master. Tickets availiable now £5. more on the door. Best night ever!! giveaways, Free stuff and lots more..
- The Music Box is ok, I go there then when I get bored I go to the LEL then when I get bored I go back to the music Box and so on. They are both different and that is really how it should be. It gives me a choice. I think that girl was a bit harsh on the DJ I have a cousin who has a speech impediment and to be honest I think it should not restrict him from doing anything he wants to. And another angle is it shows open mindedness to a venue to allow him to DJ, I mean after all everyone has the right to do a job. So my opinion is this, The Music Box is good, The LEL is good and well done to the DJ. Claire X
- LEL- DONT EVEN GO THERE! - Need i say more!!! im sure loads of people will back me up! This club has changed managers time and time again and they just get worse and worse!!! So stay AWAY, don't even give it that 1st chance!!! The Music box is the place to be now and its right in the town so you dont have 2 walk miles for food or taxis!!! Ne way.. LEL= NO GO!!! Box - Go for it!! Have Fun!
- The music box is definately the place to be on a Friday. If you get in there earlier there is usually a dj playing real nice and fresh funky house. Not sure what his name is but he sure knows how to warm a crowd up for a cracking night..
- The o2 club is definately nowhere as bad as everyone says. its cheap entry, there is generally a good atmosphere now, and the music is good. its a good laugh on a saturday night and if its as crap as everyone says, how come its always packed?!there are some good theme nights as well eg pimps, gangsters and prostitutes night and afrodisiac. so there.
- o2 club has a good feel to it , with a new VIP area being built , the door price will always be £5 with new promotions every weekend. there will be lots of live acts coming to the club on saturdays and fridays. The live acts will be female and male acts. Saturday nights at the o2 club are ministry of cheese, 2 free drinks b4 11. There is a free bus wich u can catch from st'ives town and local areas PHONE 07989381248. If u are intrested in putting on your own do at the club call dan on 07989381248 and for more info. hope to see u soon dan . ps under new management 02 CLUB
- If your feeling reeeeeely desparate or like tacky cheesy clubs with luvvly sticky dancefloors, then theres Pascos, the Dirtbox, Club Ice (Watch out: owned by Pascos)
- The Music Box is one of the best clubs in the area for meeting up with your mates and having a good time, Moonie and TNT Newling is a bunch of nutters but know the score and know what they are doing. anyone who thinks it's a Dirt hole needs a quick chat behind Woolies (Nudge Nudge)
- Must say the Music box is my fave out of all the clubs their and i agree that Moonie is in himself quiet a character! First of all they play music you understand e.g its has a begining middle and end! None of this stuff you get up the LEL Where you pay £15 and they play the same song from the moment you get in to the moment you leave!! Its also safe clean and in town hence drunken bum's may stagger to many diffrent eating and transport establisments after 7 hrs solid drinking! It does leave the LEL OOH Sorry the O2 club standing as hey we all know it will never ever get rid or that awful reputation! O2 club never it will always be THE LEL! And as far as Pasco's oh sorry the Queside club goes ..... is that even worth a mention!!
- The Music Box is the bomb, If you hit it the right time of the year(namely uni holidays). Where you can see such gods as Jimmy, Stuart, Andy and Fil. Trevor "TNT" Newling can dj as good as the next man
- PLEASE ASK THE REVIEWER OF THE MUSIC BOX TO CALL IN FOR A CHAT SOMETIME PLEASE ASK FOR MOONIE AS WE THINK THAT HIS COMMENTS ARE NOT JUST.
- LEL - DO NOT (on any occasion) try to befriend the bouncers! Music box - cheesey but not violent. Quayside (Pascos) Dirty, rough as nuts, not nice.
- LEL Club rather a sad place built over a factory in the middle of nowhere! a night spent a the local Spiritualist church is much more entertaining
Music Box OK no trouble, but the beer and wine is not so good
Quayside formerly Pasco's, still an entertaining night out for the locals, but strangers should stay away!
- Dirt Box is for you if you are desperate/
- music box LEL club which is just on the out skerts and pascoes
- - MUSIC BOX - Affectionately known as the 'Shit Box' or the 'Dirt Box', it is nevertheless a popular club on the weekends. The 70's & 80's revival on Thursday's never really worked, but, especially on Friday, is packed with all ages. The music is generally chart dance, with the occasional melody of classics thrown in to keep all happy. Saturday is generally quiter, the masses tend to stay in the town centre on Friday where the Music Box is located and out of town on Saturday where the LEL is.
LEL CLUB - Many improvements over the years have helped the LEL to become more popular. The addition of a free bus from town, guest DJ's and theme night's have made it better for us town dwellers. Still unfortunately quiet on a Friday night, go on Saturday for a good time. Dance and sometimes underground music is the order of the day here. It always swells upto it's capacity, so there's plenty of people to choose from, if you know what I mean. Don't get down here until after 11pm, or you'll feel very lonely !!!!
QUAYSIDE CLUB - Not really worth a mention !! A former Pool Club turned 'Night Club' allegedly. If you like your woman or men young this is the place to go. Oh, and also if your from our nearby bigger but weaker neighbour, Huntingdon.
- Footy Club good for a party
- The Music box, known to locals as either 'the dirt box' or 'the shit box' for obvious reasons....... level of ladies and also the general shittyness
- The Music BOX, just right for when the Pubs close.
- Cromwell Video Club at Hemingford Grey
