Pubs in St Neots, Cambridgeshire*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about St Neots.

Pubs
  • You mention that the Golden Ball in St.Neots is a bit rough and noisey. This has now been taken over and is called "The Corner House" and is more like a respectable wine bar.
  • St Neots once had most pubs per square mile in the UK!.. pick of the best today are: New Inn, Shotz, The Priory and The Wrestlers which attracts the younger clientele!
  • The best pubs at the weekend are The New Inn & The Priory, Good for a p*ss up!!!! & abit of totty!!!
  • Pub update... The Priory is one of the more upmarket venues in the town that opened this year (2003)... it gets a varied crowd (18 to 40) and I find its better mid week than the packed out Friday / Saturday nights. It is open until 1am at the weekends, nice touch. No trainers (thur to sat). The Golden Ball remains shut with no work being carried out on it (note to Wetherspoons... buy the Golden Ball and building next to it and knock them though!). The Bridge has changed hands, it is no longer a Beefeater but doesn't appear to be changing much. Shotz is still pulling a good crowd, with the Warehouse packed out on Fridays.. not so busy on Saturdays. Finally, a firm favourite in the town, The New Inn is still going strong and saw some good nights throughout the summer... even pulling in a few good DJ's for the young, up for it crowd! Keep it up!
  • pubs? well who wants to know bout them as everyone knows what the most famous one is!!!!!!
  • Well, have to say after many years enduring sticky carpets, 1970's decor and pishy toilets, that a couple of well renowned pubs, namely the New Inn and the Kings Head have miraculously transformed themselves by jumping onto the minimalist/All Bar One bandwagon. Massive improvement. Clientele I'm afraid, is still the same. Oh well.
  • The Newly opened SHOTZ is a breath of fresh air in this town. It was long overdue and now it looks like the rest of the town centre pubs are following in their footsteps. As much as these places do not have anything on the likes of the Met Bar etc, it is just what we need in this town. You want more, you go outta town.
  • I walked over the bridge the other night and the fucking noise from the Golden Ball was ridiculous. I'm only 38 years old but that's taking the piss. Why do the council allow it I wonder??????? If any of the Town's hard working council wish to reply. go right ahead I'm all (slightly damaged) ears
  • If you are willing to walk a bit one of the best places in the St. Neots area is the Rivermill pub in Eaton Socon. It's about a mile from the town centre but has live music every Wednesday and Friday and is usually fairly packed at weekends. Upstairs and downstairs bars as well as a large number of benches outside next to the river. Don't bother with the quiz that is held every Sunday night....it's f*****g impossible!
  • St Neots is rumoured to have the most number of pubs than anywhere in the WORLD and was said to be in the Guiness Book of Records. There are loads of pubs and from just about every corner one can be seen. There are several new ones but my guess is about 20 pubs in total maybe more.
  • The "Old Falcon" does serve shit beer you are right, but it has the best atmosphere of any of the town pubs, if you're into night life. However, if you don't feel like having you head carved open by a pint glass, don't talk to anybody you don't know. This is also pretty much the case for the Golden Ball, on the other side of the Market Square.
