Pubs in St. Bees, Cumbria*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about St. Bees.

Pubs
  • The seacote like most of the pubs/ hotels in St Bees has its regulars and previous trouble makers have been banned.Contractors no longer stay long term if at all.No K9's (dogs) running around your feet whilst eating unlike others in village.
  • The above comments are somewhat dated now as there have been a number of changes of landlords etc over the years. The Albert is now open again and the Queens is no longer a free house. The Odd Fellow has been turned around by the current Land Lady over the last few years and is now the best place in the village for Jennings. It also the friendliest pub in Cumbria.
  • The Oddfellows Arms. The Manor House Hotel. The Albert Hotel.
  • Don't go near the Seacote, only venture to the Oddies which has recently got a pool table or the Manor or Queens.
  • The Queens is the best pub. The Albert used to be but it closed, it used to have great lock-ins.
  • The Albert was the best pub until it closed. The landlord was brilliant and they used to have a really good atmosphere. Go to the Queens if you want a quiet night. The Manor House is by far the best pub at the moment. Oddfellows Arms is a pile of ****, it's tiny and not that many people go in there. Don't even venture near the Seacote. It's full of contractors and locals do go in there but only if there's a party or if you're old!
  • Let nobody put you off: the Seacote Hotel is a fine establishment, and locals DO go there, largely to look hard and scary, then either fight or mate with the contractors. Also a great place to avoid public school types. They know their place, and the Seacote it ain't.
  • The Queens Hotel is a decent middle class sort of place. No one will give you any hassel but no one is likely to talk to you much either. Its a touch cliquey dominated by public school types, ie wankers. The Mannor House across the road is another nice place, a touch more friendly than the Queens but instead of public school types its football teams and freemasons. The Albert is a friendly place but a touch dodgy. It is however currently closed. The Seacoat Hotel by the main beach is full of contracters working at Sellafield. No locals ever go there! The Oddfellows Arms or the Oddies is by far the best pub in the village. A nice cosy place it serves the best pint of Jennings anywhere in the world and the regulars are a good sort. Under new ownership again, but hopefully on the up.
