The Worst Things in St. Peter Port, Channel Islands*
The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it
You can tell us more about St. Peter Port.
The Worst Things
- Cost of getting on and off the island. Too many cars. House prices.
- the weather
- The worst things? Well where do you start. Guernsey is THE most boring place on the planet bar none. All it's 'night clubs' (or more accurately 'disco's' cos that's how dated they are) have about as much atmosphere as Mars. Remember, this is the place that thinks a Frank Sinatra theme bar is cutting edge! It would be quite fun if the local populace didn't think they were sophisticated socialites and accepted that they live on a small insular rock in the middle of nowhere which everyone has heard of but noone can point out on a map. Do yourself a favour, never, ever, ever, ever visit until you're over 55 and about to retire. Actually, if you want to have something to do in your retirement, don't even do that. Oh and Vale Earth Fair (as mentioned above). Not bad if you ignore the fact that it's on at the same time as Reading and Leeds festivals. Now let's see....A Guernsey festival? Reading festival? Hmmmmm what a choice!
- cost of living and rent.no mcdonalds.
- English people coming over, whingeing about house prices, mispronouncing names (Can yez tell uz de way ter Pea-Tit-Bott?), making jokes about being inbred, not appreciating ormers (All the more for us!), moaning about patois (When vey aww sahnd lahk vis innit) and generally being a nuisance. And then trying to change things. English people who do none of this are perfect.
- its all good in wellington
- Bridgies, ther worse than townies cs they no they'l get beaten up in town as ther too little
- The extreme lack of shops. Just TRY and shop in Guernsey...I dare you
- Dont come to Guernsey if:
1/ You get sunburnt easily
2/ You can't swim
3/ Your scared of fast descending fog
- How come 'Guernsey locals' are listed in both the best and the worst things?
If some of you hate Guernsey so much why don't you clear out and leave it to us who know when we're well off?
- Drug Abuse - A lot of young people are taking drugs now, i'm no saint but heroin is not a good drug and it will ruin your life
House Prices - Exorbitant!! A decent one bedroom flat will cost about £150,000
Flight/Ferry Prices - How come it's cheaper to travel to Guernsey from the UK than the other way around?
- a lor of redevelopment going on...about *1£@6(€! time
no parking spaces
- Elizabeth College
- Price of it
- just to say whoever wrote the inbred part i would like to meet and i also think that my freinds would like to. just so that we can send him back to whereva he came from with a few limbs missing.
- Oppressive boredom,
The Guernsey Evening Press (except for any articles written by Miss Anna Brehaut)
- Calling guernsey part of the county of the channel islands, there is no such thing.
from a crapaud
- Traffic (isn't it everwhere?)
- english people
- getting to the mainland without having to take out a mortgage to cover the travel costs1
- Then Wintertime
- The house prices. Don't expect to get anything here for under £110,00. And if you do, it will be a tiny hole masquerading as a one bedroomed flat in St Peter Port.
The increase of teenage pregnancies and drug usage.
Some of the barmy idea's the States pass and allow to happen.
- Guernsey locals. House prices. Flat beer. No Celtic. Inbred dumbwits who shag their neices. The Castel Hospital. It's tiny. Flight prices. Ormoughs or however you spell it. The smaell of Garlic. Patios. People driving Ferrari's when the speed limit is 30MPH.
- The cost of housing.
- The heavy separations between people at the public schools and people at the states schools.
- The cleeks and freaks (there are plenty)
Also most people are inbred (but not quite as much as Alderney and Sark)
- A stringent police force. A good & a bad thing. Never try taking drugs into the island - you'll get busted! If you want to spend the weekend in jail & get fined £400 then thrown off the island, give it a try.
- Not being able to buy petrol on a Sunday, due to an old local law. Too many cars (a 40 sq km island with 40,000 motor vehicles!)
