Pubs
- We thought that the new rising sun was excellent, the food was great (when t hey do it!) but one problem you have to call to see if the chef has managed to make it in!!
9/10 Food is not available. So we have stopped going, is there any pub in Stanford that does decent lunchtime foods????????

- in the last 6 years whispers has become a very nice pub they don't tolerate any trouble it has wide & varied customers from young to old regulars. Its a local pub but also has a wonderful atmosphere to visitors aswell. You are made to feel very welcome
- White Lion, Fobbing. Pub retains some old country feeling. Good crowd though landlord can be a bit stiff.
- this is the most grimey pub! i think it needs to be closed down!!!!
- The best place in the world has to be "The Inn on the Green!" As a visitor from Oz I frequented there most of 1993. In fact, it was the place I met my now husband Craig. Lila is an outstanding barperson! The regulars are absolute gems, Popham, Ian, Peter, Gareth, Daisy, Mark, Absey etc etc...
- there all smell and chavs go in them
- The inn on the green. I used to be a barmaid there and it is good on a Friday night, especially if you know everyone. Recently been refurbished and at last got rid of those tacky ornaments hanging on the wall.
- The Railway Tavern is actually a good place to go now, belive it or not. Cracking roast dinner too on a sunday.
- whispers - if you dare!!!!
- The Rising Sun has the dirtiest, smelliest, rat infested, shit hole toilets in Stanford. Avoid it at all costs.
- The Inn On The Green I have to say is the best pub in the area. Friday night's it's banged out, Sat night's are slightly quieter. It caters for all age groups, has a good atmosphere and has three quality bar staff (not mentioning any names...oh sorry to see Kate leave, she would have made it number four)
- The Inn on the Green. The landlords are always as elusive as al qu'eda gunmen.Never enough barmaids.Michelle and Lila have a great pair.....oops i mean make a great pair!
- the inn on the green, packed on a friday night with top totty. Michelle the barmaid has probably the largest cleavage your ever likely too see!
- The only place to drink in Stanford has to be The Social Club formaly The United Services...you know the wooden hut next to the Great Hong Kong.I am a bit biased cos I'm the head barman but decent beer, decent prices, brilliant staff and great members make it a great night out for all the family.
- Kings Head 'youth pub'
- The railway tav was excellent ONLY if people knew you. I watched most of the 92 world cup in there.
- the bull in old corringham was nice but that was bafore it started to attract tossers
- most of them smell go out of town
- When driving or walking even through stanford or corringham you cannot' miss the wide selection of pubs. if you take the last turning of the a13 into stanford you take the first turn off and your right outside the catcracker.
The best pub i would have to say is whispers due to always knowing every **** in there.
- well of course i have to mention my old haunt, whispers.... Not as bad as people make out.
Going back 5-6 years there were some great people in there.
and it was a lot better than the Catcracker
- the bell in horndon(i know its not in slh) or, well, i suppose the rising sun
- A BIT MORE ON PUBS.........
Due to the closing of the infamous 'Rainbows End Pub',The Kings Head has become
even more crouded with white bomber jacket wearers driving yellow XR2's
(if they are old enough). This is probably the No.1 place for a broken nose
(or leg, or possibly your back),
- some one has listed some of the pubs in the area and they have made it sound like the place is really rough and not for the faint hearted eg, don't expect to leave the railway tavern without a broken nose.
well this kind of talk gives people like me and other people in the rest of the area a bad name, because it isn't that bad.
- The Catcracker - good grub. Mainly a locals pub where the ex Hassenbrook lot hang out.
The Rising Sun - dodgy old mans pub - like the shell club and the welcome club. Stay away if you are under 50
The Inn on the Green - very nice pub - can be a bit quite but the best that Stanford has top offer
The Kings Head - very 70īs but itīll do
The Railway Tavern - very dodgy - you can still see the fade stains on the walls where old pictures used to hang - donīt come out not expected to have a broken nose
- Railway Tavern
The Kings Arms
