Cringing Cult of Celebrity
- World Champion boxer Damon Hague was born in Stanningon and I still think he lives here, not sure whereabouts though. A couple of footballers used to live here as well - Marlon Beresford (Barnsley) and Graeme Lee (Sheff Wed).
- Stannington overlooks the Loxley and Rivelin Valleys. The Rivelin Valley Road is what Sebastian Coe claims made him a world champion. (He went to school and lived most of his early life in the area.) It is the perfect training run for middle distance runners and, running on it every day, Seb soon became an Olympic Champion. (I think.)
