Good to find fellow FP's from Marsh Court.

Attendance at Marsh Court seems like a dim & distant chapter of my life, but an interesting one. Last I heard, it took ages to sell it to a developer, who has created residential accommodation from it, but could be wrong. - It would be fascinating to set up a re-union and a walk round the building again, I'd love to have a look round the grounds and th... more >>

I went to Marsh Court prep-school when Mr. Wright was headmaster. I was there from 1948 to 1950. I have very fond memories and some rather stark ones as well.

My favourite memory is of the billiard room with a couple of huge leather chairs either side of the fireplace. I read the Count of Monte Cristo (from the school library), while curled up in that chair. We had tuck once a week and the sc... more >>

I was at Marsh court in the late 70s too with my sister Emma and brother Billy. I remember getting slippered once or twice. I think Emma was the only girl to get slippered too. HaHa. I am going to be back in the UK in July 2006 I might try and get a quick look at the old school when I am there. My email is andrewdknight@xtra.co.nz if anyone is interested.

I was there 69-73, under Mr. Wright at first then Mr. Broadbent, who sold the house in 1993 to Geoffrey Robinson MP, friend of Blair, business associate of Maxwell, mysterious benficiary of the will of Belgian businesswoman, Mme Bourgeois (allegedly to the tune of £50m). It was he who secretly lent Peter Mandelson £373000 to buy his flat in Notting Hill.

  • Re: Marsh Court by Jane Wright (Member 10235198) on 7-Feb-2009
Does anyone know if Marsh Court has actually been sold yet?
My father, the infamous Mr Wright's ashes are scattered there as Geoffrey Robinson let us enter his property, but latterly Mr ?Noar has not allowed access.

    Jane -

I don't remember Mr. Wright as infamous (unlike some other masters), but I do remember you! I am glad his ashes are scattered there. I can't find any reference to the house yet being sold - the owner who denied you access was Steve Noar, who lived (lives?) there with his wife Sarah and their two small daughters, according to the Telegraph: ' "The fact that it is so full of light makes it... more >>

I was at Marsh Court in 1948/9, under Mr Wright. The teacher who made a big difference to me was Mr Watkinson, he really helped me.
