I am particularly interested to know what happened to ELIZABETH HUMPHREYS - born 1915 (my gf sister) after about 1934. She was born in Burslem and there was an incident at Abbey Hulton (but I would ratehr not go into that here). Her parents were EDward Humphreys and Elizabeth Hancock.... I am keen to push forward my research into the Hancock family but the name is very common. Siblings of E Hu mphreys above are: Reg, Harold, Thomas, Michael, Minnie and Ted. Bloore is the name of my gg grandma Teresa and I know her mother to be from the family Sanders. They all seemed to live in the Hanley and Burslem area in the parish of St Paul. I know there are some surviving distant relatives Doreen Wlasiuk nee Humphreys and her family. I am looking for possible ideas at which colliery they may have worked and which pottery companies were likely as I know they all wroked in these sectors but would like some more info on the organisations. ... more >> Reply

10 year old Emma has had surgery for Scoliosis and is now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and for all children in the UK to have the very simple 'bend forward' test to get an early diagnosis of Scoliosis. She has an online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/start-testing-for-scoliosis-in-schools. Emma is aiming for 1000 signatures and currently has just short of 300... I'd like to see this figure go through the roof!!! This is an issue close to my heart as my son was diagnosed with adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at 16 and had surgery last november when he was aged 18 and a half. Many thanks!
