Pubs in Stourbridge, West Midlands*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Stourbridge.

Pubs
  • The Mitre, The Moorings (avoid Fridays for Chavsville), Rock Station (If you dare! hahaha GOOD PEEPS really!), Rock Cafe 2000 for alt/indie/punk/rock.
  • The Plough and Harrow, affectionately known as the "Wheel and Barrow".
  • Everybody in the mitre is sound as a pound. go in on a lunch time and have a portion of cheesy curly fries. also used to frequent the station which is one of my favourite pubs
  • The meeting place is no more, it's a fresh looking bar called The Glass, and there is now some decking being put down in the beer concrete. If you have the time, the enville mile is worth a try, go out the back door of the mitre and go under the subway & just stroll down enville street where you'll find the cottage inn, good for a very cheap pint, the royal exchange, bathams, not bad, a few chav orientated pubs and then heave in the form of Katie Fitzgeralds, owned by trina, who's to be found fag in hand somewhere around the bar, if your lucky you'll get a chance to try and chat up one of the oh so handsome bar-men (me being one of them).
  • the mitre rocks
  • hogshead has always got a nice crowd.
  • The mitre is a very popular pub in stourbridge, the drinks are a reasonable price. there is a pool table and there is always a lively, chatty atmosphere! The Bellis good on a friday night for a few drinks, there is a small disco with a good dj. in the bell alcopops are way overpriced. I wouldnt go to the meeting place in stourbridge as this pub is very tacky and full of old men, very few young adults go in there, they are only those into drugs and allsorts though. Id stay away if i were you.
  • The Meeting Place...very surreal, absolute shithole, but the people are really nice and drink isn't too badly priced either. The Hogshead...Bright nice place, could do with a few extra seats though. The Mitre...OK. Now, the Lloyds No1 Bar... Brand new asnd great if you like the whole dance and R'n'b scene. Nice staff, cheap drinks, and if you went to school in or around Stourbridge I will bet you will see some of your old schoolmates up there. Best Place up Stourbride.
  • try to spot me between the gurning faces at the meeting place
  • The Labour in Vain in Oldswinford is superb, the gaffer doesn't mind a "fresh faced crowd" as long as you're not daft. The music in there is really good. Always a good laugh.
  • Used to be the Pins, Pint and Platter down on the trading estate off the ringroad. Don't think it's there any more, though. Was a great place to see student bands and play pool whilst drinking Newcastle Brown Ale. Fun place to gig, too.
  • The Toad is a good night out. But varies from night to night as to whether it is very busy or very empty. Lloyds (Wetherspoons) is to open Feb 2004 on the main high street. A welcome addition to Stourbridge town centre
  • The New Inn in Cherry Street is an excellent little pub if it wasnt for the complete bitch that runs it - ladies, if you were anticipating a nice night out there think again cos she will only let you in if you have that special something between your legs
  • Wetherspoons is by far the best but it is a bit out of the way! then theres the new toad wine bar on the high street.
  • The hoghead in foster street is handy as its just by the subway for the bus/train station, the staff are great, its a really freindly pub with great offers sun-thurs,
  • The Seven Stars used to be good....gone down the pan now. The Chequers at 7 in the morning...i don't think so. Too many pubs to mention....it's not the places (cos their all a bit dire)...i't's the people(most of them are quite dire too)....The Meeting place....what can I say...
  • Meeting Place = good crowd, Seven stars was good but suddenly everyone disappeared, good nosh though! The Labour in Vain should be reamed The Pleasure in Vain...urrgghh!
  • The other entries have overlooked the GEM of shitville drinking holes, and that is the Chequers: top of the high street. This little beauty features such novelty attractions as senile landlady and Gwen, the old dear who sips her gin and smokes her ciggies whilst appearing to be completely unconcsious! Juke box cheap, pool only 30p, and drinks reflect the decor - dirt cheap! Hurrah - the Chequers is our Mecca! (no religious insults intended...) ps swan not rough, just empty...
  • Maverick, Brettell Lane. Live music Wednesday (Jam Night) Friday, Saturday. Western decor but definitely not C.& W.
  • The Swan isn't rough at all - it's a bit college-y, but it's cool. That said, it's changed management now, so I've no idea, but it was nice enough, if skanky, back in the day.
  • The oldswinford, great food and atmosphere even though it looks a bit victorian inside. Now has a new manager who is friendly and welcoming.
  • wetherspoons!!! quality!! :0) the waterloo and the Brit in wollaston!(nice meals too),
  • The swan attracts a some what younger crowd in comparison 2 other pubs. its got some fit chaps in there and its a good place 2 go when skyving from college.
  • red lion too expensive, wetherspoons not enough toilets on the walk back to town. brittania gone downhill with new owners, the princess will always be the alex
  • Hmm.. the Bull and Bladder in Brierley Hill. Good for getting *bladder*ed, get it?
  • The Rock Station on stourbridge bus station rules!!!!!! its wicked. its biker/greebo friendly and its ace!!!!
  • The Hogs Head is your classic 20 something and college crowd pub. Guest ales, special offers and 'tasteful' wood pannelled finish. The Enville Run incorporates all the pubs on Enville street (you can play count the huge ferocious rats along the way) through Wollaston, up to the Forester's arms. I do apologise if it goes further, we have always passed out by then. The Unicorn in Wollaston is a gorgeous little village pub. Bathams ale is always on offer, it's not pricey and the gardens are beautfiul in the summer. Look out for Sophie the dog, she looks like a sheep. There is a very welcome atmosphere there, and it is perfect for a chilled out drink with some mates. The Crispin is very popular with ankle biters.
  • fresh faced crowd... ho ho ho. The Turf... early 90's... Owned by some ardent supporters of Saddam Hussein during the gulf conflict. Very good to his wife too i seem to recall.
  • The rock station, which may or may be knocked down if dudley councils plans to extend the ring road in order to build a big Tesco, is full of Bikers who used to either drink in there or the exchange which is now called the "meeting Place" and has been taken over by hippies. For an interesting night out try the Duke, you may return with a few less teeth than you started with. The Bell, is quite a large pub but it is owned by Banks which means that the Guiness is always served with a nice luke-warm head. The Talbolt Hotel, stay away every one else does.
  • Best pubs for a good night out and reasonably priced pint are: The Rockstation- good music, friendly bunch and pretty cheap beer. The Meeting Place- again good music, lots of hippies, cheap beer, just don't eat meet in there cause you'll start a riot! The pub next to the seven stars if you can stand a YOUNGER crowd if you know what I mean!
  • The Bell. Beauty made into an oak bar with taps along it.
  • the rock station, biker friendly pub with ace staff. sunday quiz is a must, free entry cash prize, always packed! fridays/saturdays rock/indie/dance.
  • The Oldswinford - Old People's home with a bar
  • The Hogshead just off the High Street. Excellent selection of fine ales and unlikely to encounter trouble. Very close to McDonalds for munchies however do not eat cheeseburgers in the pub or you will be asked to leave. The Chequers - open approximately 24 hours a day. Scary locals but with pool table and jukebox which regularly pumped out the sounds of Corona and Hotel California during the 97-98 rugby season. The Harvester, The Labour in Vain, The Seven Stars. The pool hall above Shipley's - good place to go when you should be in college,
  • Rock Station (not vvv rough at all), new landlord, quiz(Sun), pool table, guest beers, good atmosphere. Wetherspoons, Hogs Head(full of twats), Mitre (full of students),
  • Seven Stars Labour in Vain The Swan (rough) The Rock Station (VVV Rough)
