  • the regal yeah right
  • The Regal.. but I warn you the seats have flea's... I have been there with a friend once and been the only two in the whole place!!
  • The Regent, just about getting round to showing 'the never ending story'
  • Regal! let it be shot or put down it's like an old lame dog! put it out of its misery!
  • The regal, oh dear i've got better sound in my bed room, no joke! Go to cineworld in ipswich. And rumor has it you get fleas from the seats in the regal!ergh!
  • the regal is a time warp of a cinema, with its 70's bar, but is getting more new releases all the time.
  • The Regal...shows films about 3 years after they're released. Very cold and in need of a facelift. Still, an interesting experience to see a film there - a bit like taking a step back in time!
  • well i went to regal theatre the other day and they have just installed digital sound , and i must say it was fantastic .......well done its about time . i shall definatley be going back as its local and i like to enjoy a beer in the cinema while watching the film !!!
  • PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE Update the regal. ITS CRAP!!!
  • The U.G.C is good, but very expensive. I like the Stowmarket cinema, it is cute, and I know that they are struggling to keep the place going!!!
  • Regal Cinema. Proposal to make it better by spending £170,000 on refurbishment. What a joke. Please do us all a favour and do something that will actually make people want to go to it like showing the latest films?
  • i can't believe the you people out there who obviously know nothing about the cinema industry, before you slag the place off find out some facts!!! a small cinema with only one screen can't get films on release date as the film distributors have very strict guidelines.the soonest you can get them is 4-5 weeks after release.so they don't have a hope in hells chance, do they! i think for a small independant cinema they do pretty good. it would be nice to see new seats... but how much would our council tax go up you have to ask? the thing i like is the staff and the friendly atmosphere can't beat it.
  • The Regal: If u wanna see a new movie here you will have to wait about 2 months after it's release date to get here.,
  • oh you boring lot who have not been for years!! its a great place the staff are cool and make you feel welcome (unlike the plebs at UGC) come along enjoy a drink and watch the films at least you'll get a seat on the back row!!!!!
  • MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMMENTED HERE HAVE OBVIOSLY NOT VISITED RECENTLY!! The staff are friendly and welcoming (more than can be said of UGC)The prices are competitive, there is a wide variety of films, plays and tribute bands. I went on a wednesday and it was BUY ONE GET ONE FREE not bad eh? 2 tickets for £4.50!!!!!!!!! GO ON I DARE YOU TO TAKE A VISIT, they even sell popcorn!!!!!!!!
  • cruddy cinema. went in last saturday, only three other people in ther!!! they hav just invested in a digital thingy which displays what they r showin. WHY? WHY DONT U SPEND YR MONEY ON MAKIN THE SEATS COMFY N NOT SHOWIN FILMS THAT HAV JUS COM OUT ON BLIDDY DVD!!! ???
  • The cinema aint no good, by the time films are screened there they are out on video. you are better off going to Ipswich UGC
  • get a bus or train to ipswich, don`t bother with Regal!
  • Regal and Movieland which was set up be the ex Manager of The Regal which was council run. Both good enough for a small town.
  • the regal! genious! Like going back in time. I think the national trust might own it now. The only cinema I know where they have an interval because the projector cant handle all the film at once. They have one ancient Cornetto advert that they always use to try and convince you its like proper cinema!
  • you can have a beer in the cinema while you watch the film and it is cheaper than ipswich! It does not get bette than that!
  • Regal - Please thats no cinema
  • i hear the regal is still playing the lion king! Rich Mac
  • Beloved Regal. Been there once, never again :) Flissx
  • 1 screen shit hole
  • THIS IS NOW BEING UPDATED 2002. There is one cinema in stowmarket, it costs the same as going to the UGC but at the UGC you dont get itchy seat, cans of coke for £1.80, popcorn out of a bag and have to watch a film that has been out for 6 months 18 miles up the road, I would rather go to Ipswich myself.
  • Go to the regal if you want cheesy 'local' adverts for Hicks or Hughes. Quality.
  • The only Cinema in Stowmarket is the Regal. But I would rather travel 20 mins up the A14 to Ipswich to see a movie. Most good films don't reach the Regal until about 3 months later, by which time, another week and it would be available to rent at blockbuster. Also the fact that it is know to the locals as 'the Flea Pit' says enough to stay well away. Oh and there is the fact that it was recently closed down for a period of time from the environlental health! Nuff said!
  • Hummmmmmm well theres the Regal errrrrrrrrrrr i wouldn't bother
  • How can you mock the Regal? Any cinema where a hooligan can go along and change James and The Giant Peach into "Sister Ate The Giant Penis" must deserve some credit. Also the demonic woman has now thankfully left (she never did believe I was under 15 to get in as a child!!)
  • The Regal, its very small and cute (a good place for UK lovers from other countries), but if you want the real thing, its back off to Ipswich!!
  • The Regal which I have never been to, but I heard that its got one screen and hard back chairs and not very popular.
  • The Regal - I saw Star Wars & Grease there when I was a wee child but since I moved back I haven't set foot in the place. I like to see a movie in comfort & luxury on a huge screen with a thick shake in my hand, and I don't think this 1950s timewarp is going to provide it.
  • We all go to Ipswich, I mean the people at the door of the Regal make you feel as welcome as Hitler would be in a Jewish family reunion.
  • The quality REGAL, with the grumpest staff in the world and the most uncomfortable seat ever made!
  • Its the good old Regal. Known for films coming to town months after therve been everywhere else, musty smelling seats and uncontrollable, rude and noisy groups of kids who only go there to be the last one laughing at the end of a Disney film. (they just like the sound of their own voices.Still, on a 1 to 10 scale I guess it's scores an 8.we should be gratefull Stowmarket has moved on from the slide shows of old Thats called progress in this town but don't hold your breath for a multi complex in this millenium.
  • The Regal is fine if you don't want to travel to Ipswich or Bury, and fine if you don't mind having the reels shown in the wrong sequence as recently happened during a screening of "Chocolat". We thought the film had gone into flashback mode when the old lady who had just died was suddenly back in the cafe chatting as usual. To add insult to injury ,they had advertised the film a week before, but when we got there a notice stuck in the door announced no showing on that night. 2 disillusioned ex-customers.
  • I'm a local rustic. me and my crew don't bother with the Regal, but travel to Ipwsich, paying over £5 a ticket + train fare to do this. Its a lot more expensive to do, and yet we still feel the need. Which says it all really.
  • Who needs a cinema when you have Talking Pictures
  • there is 1 cinema with 1 measly screen!! id rather wait till it came out on video to watch at home than go here!
  • I THINK THE REGAL IS JUST ABOUT TO SHOW SHORTCIRCUIT 2 GET UR TICKETS QUICKLY
  • the regal .....old ..out of date....and the videos out b4 the film gets there!
  • Rabbit Hutch
  • The Rabbit Hutch, oh sorry the Regal!
  • The Regal! With its unnecessary steps, hi-tech billboard (blue tape, anyone?), and the legacy of the most demonic door-woman in cinema history. And the orange wire-wool chairs.
  • Now there seems to be alot of slating of this fine estabishment,O.K the seats might be itchy BUT how many cinemas can you go and buy beer in AND drink it while watching the film not many chaps not many!
  • We have 1 cinema, which is a bit old, it has 1 screen and most film's come here a month or 2 after all the big screens. You pay just a much for a ticket here as in the Odean/UCG so it is not really good value, and they do not sell the tasty nacho's either.
  • If you must go, beware: different notice boards have been known to give different showing times, to be showing different times. It's even been known not to open at times when it says it will be. (MSDC note cinema chains do it better than local authorities)
  • Regal is not the same now that the old lady that used to work there that used to ask " Are you sure you're old enough" all the time even if you were blatenly over the age, has left.
  • If you can call it that. There is the Regent showing films only slightly before they come out on video.
  • One. The Regal. Sod all regal about it. seats make your arse itch, sound comes out of a speaker the size of a hamster, I believe their latest film now showing is Jaws.
  • Never go to the Regal - the woman is posessed!!
  • the odeon in ipswich is where everyone goes if their there on a saturday there is the regal in stow which is a theatre and cinema
  • theone and only cinema is the delectablt regal theatre. it has one screen. it was built in the 40's. it has a frightening door woman. it gets all the films 3 months after anywhere else. go to ipswich odean (6 screens) or the new ipswich virginm cinema (10 screeens) under nbo circumstances travel a long distance to the regal.
  • THE REGAL.......HMMM HAS BEEN BOASTING "THE LATEST IN DOLBY STEREO" SINCE I WAS A NIPPER BUT I HAVE MY SUSPICIONS.... USED TO BE WORTHWHILE IF ONLY FOR THE ORIGINAL PEARL AND DEAN INTRO - BUT I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE THAT ANYMORE (WOE WOE, THINGS AREN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE) STILL, ITS NICE FOR A NOSTAGLIA TRIP TO SEE WHAT CINEMAS USED DO BE LIKE BEFORE THE ADVENT OF THE MULTIPLEX- I.E. CRAP.
