- Maxims(chinese), Fountain Garden(chinese), the grindon village tandori(lovely)
- I noticed before that Brasserie 21 was listed as a great place to eat, that was indeed true before they closed it down (and made me redundant. I am pleased to tell you that they have 3 other restaurants in the region - Bistro 21 (Durham) and 2 Cafe 21s (Newcastle Quayside and Ponteland)
The place where Brasserie 21 used to be is an italian restaurant, looks quite nice - excellent location.
If you are interested in meeting Peter Reed, I have seen him on many occasions at Luicianos - the best lasagne in Sunderland.
- Restaurants in Sunderland are ok if you jst want an english version of foreign food! On the plus side you normally get an erm...interesting, view of the passing ( mortal, minging, moron )Public. Personaly id say try La Toscanini or La Cantina for itallian. (God Please sum 1 check my spelling!)
- you could get poisioned by mario who works at city limits pizza take away next to brogans but ur usually too pissed to notice!
- Stottie cake, pease pudding, pies at the sol
- joe ringatonies and the stadium
- Number 1 restraunt is the one and only full tums! Cheap as hell and tastes great!
- The New Melting Pot, Vine Place, for the best Indian food in the city. The staff are great and the food is superb. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
- My fave is FULTUMS Cinease buffet resturant. v.cheap!!!
- La Cantina at the top of John Street is lovely and cheap before 7pm. And you still can't beat Johnny Ringo's
- MacDonals is the place to be!
- Restaurants are becoming much better. Plenty of good Italians (La Positano on
Vine Place is excellent - quality food and happy hour prices all night). Cafe Spice,
11 Tavistock Place, Brasserie 21, throwingstones are all superb aswell.
- La Cantina behind the libary is a nice little italian place..
- Brasserie 21 - the quayside at the bottom of High Street - food and surroundings are unbelievable, but a little pricy (even by London standards)
Cafe Spice - Duro terrace, Ashbrooke - amazing Indian cuisine with surprisingly low prices in first class surroundings - Ashbrooke(sunderland) makes Jesmond(newcastle) look like coronation street.
- Try Ro-Manson for Italian/English Cuisine. (it's in high st just round the corner from Joplings). They do a quality lunch-time menu,4 courses for £3-90.
- Best places to eat are The Ropery - Loyalty cards are now available - food out of this world, Johnny Ringos - free entry into Finos nightclub if you dine late on, Mr Spare Rib - buffet style eat as much as you like chinese next to fitzgeralds, Lucianos above idols and lots of new restaurants opening down the quayside and a few good ones at Seaburn!
- Do not go to resturants in Sunderland. They are all useless, go to Newcastle or take a picnic to one of the many sandy beaches
- McDonnalds
- OOOH, well there's the legendary Food Giant (guess who used to work there!!!)
- It baly needs a KFC but 'The Ground Floor' opposite 'Chaplins' does great Sunday dinners and steak sandwiches AND they sell Belgian beer.
- AMALTHI'S iTALIAN IS GOOD. nICE FOOD, NOT TOo EXPENSIVE AND REALLY NICE STAFF. The Oriental experince on Chester road is a brilliant Chinese take away... where I work! Excellent food and staff!
