Does anyone know anything about the Redican family from Sunderland. James or Florence or Elizabeth May.(Married name Allen) or daughter Patricia Allen. Thanks.

by allan (Member 10076681) on 21-Nov-2008
You have a large block of friends......Can't you break it down a bit, like I have said Sunderland is a large city, if you could just mention a town in Sunderland then maybe I can help, or even a roundabout area would also help.>
- Re: REDICAN
by julia (Member 10069624) on 23-Nov-2008
Hi, sadly I wish I could but I have no other information at present. I was hoping by listing some of the family members someone could link in with that. I would like to be more helpful but sometimes when you only just start on your family history information like that is not very forthcoming. Thanks. Julia.

Hi everyone,

She was a bridesmaid of mine in 1966 when i married Frank Christie in Seaham but then Frank and i moved to australia in 1967.
She could be married now but her maiden name is Robson.
She use to live with her mum and i think she had a sister that lived with them in the 60's.
Hope this helps and hope to hear from someone soon.
Thankyou in advance

I am still trying to finds bits and pieces out about my family and I am wondering if anyone knows of a way I can find out about magicians that appeared at the empire around 1910 to 1920. My grandmother was apparently an assistant. Many Thanks.
- Re: Sunderland Empire
by allan (Member 10076681) on 28-Feb-2008
Where are you from Julia? I know of a person that used to work at the Empire and may have had access to the records, mind I can't promise anything. The Allen family' any ides what part of Sunderland they are from?. I do know a Ray Allen belonged Castletown, will be around the 63/64 mark.>>>

by julia (Member 10069624) on 28-Feb-2008
Well I dont think my dad was in Sunderland then as I was born in Peckham and my mum and dad were married there is 1950. I think maybe Durham was one of the citys he was in as he sang in Durham Cathedral. This family tree thing is so hard. My dad had an unusual middle name of Chard, and his father was Walter Lennard and his father William Inkerman Allen. Hope you can help. Thanks.
- Re: Sunderland Empire
by allan (Member 10076681) on 28-Feb-2008
I will ask about the Empire Julia' but the rest could be a struggle, Durham is about 12 mile outside of Sunderland, but you never know.
Have you any idea what name your mam went under on the stage?>>>>

Hi Julia...... Been into the Empire website but it didn't tell me much, I spoke to my friend about the Empire and he tol me that the Archives are more or less impossible to obtain. I will still have a go at the Library next time I am in the town and see if anything comes up from there.

I wonder if anyone could help me. My dad died just before Christmas and I would like to find out more about his family. His name was Raymond Chard Allen and is apparently sang in the choir in Durham Catherdral. His father was Walter Lennard Allen and Walter was in the army through the second world war in the Durham Light Infantry and served in Egypt and France as a Regimental Sergeant Major. He then got promoted to acting 2nd Lieutenant in the Military Transport Police. He the turns up as a Police Sergeant in Sunderland and then Ray and the brothers are born... Len, Malcome and David Allen. My dad was born in 1921. My grandmothers name was Gladys Birkbeck born 1898 Gladys was on the stage as a magician's assistant and played at the Sunderland Empire, but have no documentation..! Walter and Gladys were married on the 15th December, 1920.
Any information on any of these that could help me on my way would be much appreciated. I do believe there was an Aunt Molly too. Many Thanks.

Bandit' the only way to beat this mother' is not to reply to him, he tends to thrive on arguments.
Caused me a lot of bother on a Cardiff Board a while back, The Sunderland board got flooded with kids from Wales. Still thats another story, as I say best let him argue with himself, He will go away, people of his sort always DO. Catch you later matey.>>>>
