Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars in Swindon, Wiltshire*
Where to go to get down
You can tell us more about Swindon.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
- Rolleston: lengendary boozer attracting bar flies by day & the Alternative crowd at night who frequent the Furnace nightclub
- level 3, brunel rooms thats it. But the student nurse discos were a lot of fun!
- Soda seems to have seen the light and is now putting on Old School (the excellent Rejuven8 nights) and some hard dance. Studio had a golden opportunity to do something different but, no, it's the same old boring R&B, hip hop and funk that *every* venue in Swindon with limited imagination insists on playing. When your prime highlight is DJ Spoony, you know you're aiming squarely at the 45 year old divorcee market. Edwards seems to be starting to remember which side their bread's buttered on and is playing some serious trance and almost getting into hard dance. Walkabout is, of course, utterly appalling for music but if you're looking to pull, you'd need to be the The Elephant Man to walk out of the place without doing so.
- Dance & RnB: THE STUDIO, old town; Funk: PO NA NA; Hip Hop: BRUNEL ROOMS (featuring Westwood quite frequently); Rock: FURNACE; Old people: KASBAH
plus Revolution upstairs, Edwards, Spot,
- soda is the only cool place ....hed kandi , moneypenny's - need i say more?
brunelrooms - a bit of a legend....big on urban nowadays. load of rubbish otherwise . and a load of twerps in the apartment - chav central in fact! swindon girls have the sexiest legs for miles around .....
- STUDIO NIGHTCLUB....the newly refurbished club in town..formally MISSION. went there at the wkend and had a fab time at only £1.50-£2 a drink it was a bargain especially in swindon! and even better this wkend they have TREVOR NELSON djing, on sunday its no longer 66p a drink but the same as a sat so i think i will be there again this wkend!!!
- Studio (The) - formerly Mission in Hoopers Place Old Town. Very classy club, best in town. Has had a brill re-furb.
- What about d and d? alwasy good for a laugh, has a decent layout spoilt by shockingly bad music and 'boyz' with attitude.. go with the right people and all you can drink for £12.00 you can't really go wrong
- the furnace.
- well you got brunel where all the yardie boyz go and then you got the furnace where all the metal heads and punks go and there is an awful lot of conflict thats been going on between those 2 types i can tell you....
- "Destiny and Desire" is also referred to as D&D, but mainly as Divorced and Desperate. Worth a look if you're on the pull. :)
- Mission, Old Town, and all those theme bars in the Bridge Street bit. Good thing they pedestrianised Bridge St, you can walk out of your favourite bar after a few and not worry about getting hit by a bus.
- Soda in old town is pretty cool, its chilled funky music at the beggening of the thigh5t but things soon liven up downstairs. No matter wat youve read about Mission on here dont believe it. Mission is a brilliant club able to dance on the balcony, dance floor and even on the Dj's balcony (if you as nicely!) mission is fab and is definatly worth a go!
- MISSSION
- Mission - A cardboard box full of townies pissed up to the teeth on some shite or other
- Level 3 now the Furnace, yes, tacky name and slightly tacky decor, but still the best place to be if you want to be an individual. What's the obsession with puple hair on this page anyway??
- The Furnace, Commercial Road. Previously known as Level 3. Friendly, fun, live bands. Goths/Grunge/Punk/Skater types. Small and busy.
- apparently ministry of sound is goin to b the next in the place of kairos/eros...how long will that last?!!
mish...uck!
Furnace no longer for the ppl wit purple hair they av taken it further...put a bolt through ur head and ull fit in!
- Mission or mish as its affectionately called is the place to be on a thursday, guarenteed to be packed of sweaty bodys! Sundays are good too-extremely cheap. But thats only if your willing to overlook the cheesy music. If you want aural pleasure then Brunel or the new one Soda is your best bet but at no cost should you ever ever visit furnace (previously level three) or D&D thats desperate and divorced dont ya know.
- Mission night club is by far the best on a Thursday night... Its just sooo cheap! For us students thats the best thing. The music's OK. A good mixture of dance, trance, cheesy pop, R&B, hip hop etc. It's near the Old Town Co-Op. If you're after more specific mucic then check out Brunel... Any night but Wednesdays (teenage kicks... aka nappy night!)It really depends what music you're in to but if you want to see some big names then that's the place to be. Destiny & Desire smells. I went there for my 19th hoping for a welcome change from Mission but I found myself paying for overpriced own-brands and almost fainting with the horrendous stench of BO and feet. On the plus side it has 3 levels with three very different types of music. London St..... ok.... but for the gay guys n gals mostly.
- Clubs?! What, cricket? Football? Oh, you mean NIGHTCLUBS?! Unless you're under 21 or over 40 the choice is...... well, there is no choice! Brunel Rooms has probably still got it's revolving bar! Level 3 is now called something even worse. I won't mention the others. Loose women though. Classy!
- The Brunnel Rooms presents you with the security staff with the bigest attitude in the country. Expect to be dragged out the fire escape with your thumbs held together with bag ties, striped searched and then to be betten uo in the lift on the way out........
- po na na
- THE BRUNEL ROOMS WITH THERE NO DRUGS POLICY ASUMINGLY THAT EVERY BODY ONLY GOES THERE ONCE THEY HAVE TAKING DRUGS AND NOT IN THE CLUB IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN .
NOW AND THEN SOME POOR BASTARD GETS CAUGHT SELLING E BUT THATS GOOD FOR THE CLUBS IMAGE. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW THERE COULD BE SOME OTHER POOR BASTARD NOT GETINNG CAUGHT PROBABLY
- Mission
- Destiny and Desire - Swindon aka desperate and diseased Nice!. Very tacky but really good nights. Wed £10 drink as much as you want and us girls certainly get our moneys worth.
- Eros an a Friday £10 to get in drinks free.... thats what i like, also good for the laugh...
Mission aint bad...the new section is good...
- as a cheap skate swindowiner D&D's on a wednesday only a tenner then all drink inc eros on a friday the same, GET RECKED!! wicked!! d;0)
- Kaos and route66 are no longer they are now Destiny and Desire, Destiny playing danc(not hardcore) and Desire playing cheesy chart with a seperate "library bar" dedicated to r&b and soul etc. Mission is now pretty easy to get into and has an extension called bar coyote which is again your cheesy chart and 80s music. Cairos is now called Eros after a refit and is your average nightclub.
- Level 3 is back! This time the 'Fila' boys are out and anyone who has a bit more substance than the usual Friday night crowd of boringly conventional brainless bimbos - who, for some strange reason, see fit to wear next-to-nothing then spend the whole night trying to keep warm - and 'man at Dorothy Perkins' types - who if they had even an ounce of imagination, would realise that being totally 'off their heads' by 9:30 and ranting illegible profanities in the street, really isn't cool after all - well, you would do well to check it out.
- Check out the fairly recent nights at the Brunel Rooms. Personally, I dont like the place. But these guys are good, there's always a great vibe and lots of nice faces to say hello to :) Check it out, what you got to lose?
"The fantastic DE LA FUNK dj's will, no doubt, be keeping the dance floor
packed, with their unique blend of Latin, disco, funk and breaks! This night
is building up an excellent reputation as one of the south west's quality
nights .Make sure you come and see what all the fuss is about!"
- Mission on a Thursday is very busy nowadays but dont be fooled, the music policy is shocking. Brunels plays much better music and at 50p a shot of Vodka you can't go wrong apart from the fact it is not very busy any more. (That will teach them to hike prices up ehhh?). Have not been to Eros or level 3, Level 3 is more of a specialist music place though (Indie, Rock that kind of thing.) Brunels on a Friday and Saturday is very expensive (the only place with big-name DJ's - what do you expect?), Mission is cheaper but at £2.70 a bottle it's hardly great value to listen to a DJ whos idea of mixing probably involves food because he cant do it on the decks. Oh well Swindonians dont despair - your not too far away from Bristol whic has The Works - I reccommend it!
- Eros on a friday night. £12 entry fee and all drinks are free!! Not a very good selection of beers tho. Some nice females tho. Also destiny and desire on a wednesday, also £12 entry and all drinks free, try the library room for good hip hop and uk garage.
- If you're looking for the equivalent of a club in Highworth, you look like an OAP if you go into The Fishes and the music has a fantastic range from Craig David to, well, Craig David. Wahoo!
- Eros is the biggest junkyard I've ever waded through
- Angelos. wicked night out. they even have bouncers on the toilets for extra safety?????
- Brunel (dance) garage, Mission (Chesse, D and D (over 25's)
- Level 3, Commercial rd. decent mix of indie, dance, house, not your typical First Leisure Club!!! Not for the trendy type though.
- Eros on a thursay but forget it unless you have photo ID good atmosphere but fight night at kick out. Sunday or Friday has to be Mission a bugger to get to but worth it 66p a drink on sunday
- Brunel Rooms is good ONLY when God's Kitchen are there. Avoid Garage Nation like
the plague, unless you actually have the plague that is 'cos you'll fit right in.
DON'T believe the rumours on this site that Mission might be worth going to, it is
totally, utterly appalling and only sells bottled lager to ensure those profits
are even more inflated than other clubs.
- All apart from the appalling Brunel Rooms and Level 3 play cheese - Mission is by far the best of the lot and definitely the classiest by Swindon standards (so not very). In Swindon clubs you will witness the lovely sight of slappers squeezed into too short, too tight skirts and boob tubes, topped off by a gorgeous pair of white pvc sandals. Aaah, what an endearing image.
- All clubs in Swindon are totally worth avoiding
- Eros - but be warned - It's packed on Thursdays. Don't go to mission it's CRAP
- London Street -Where the 'Gay Guys Go'
- Thinking about coming to Swindon for a good night out then think again goto Oxford
- route 66 & kaos is now destiny & desire top club for thick good looking birds but thats all
- Cairo's is no more. After a one million revamp it is Eros.
- Please realise that Level 3 is no longer the hangout of purple haired types, it now has the delight of pulling in crowds of "fila boys" who due to the fact that they're probably 12 years old, wearing Fila jumpers and trainers failed to get in else where so sit in Level looking 'ard!
- Cairos is called Eros now, but still crap. Come to think of it, they're all crap. Except the brunel rooms on friday.
- Level 3 has live bands too and not only is for those with purple hair but for those who want to escape the horror of 13 1/2 year olds pretneding to be 18 wearing white platforms and NICE! ensembles!
- New in town is the mission, but don't bother, cause it ain't much good.
- Don't forget the blasphemous Cross club up in Old Town, source of town scandal in some circles for, ooh, minutes!
- There is a club in Old Town - it's Vadim's Angelo's (used to be Pasha's) - near the rail station
- Vadims is in the Old Town! As is THE MISSION (new)!
- Goldiggers Steamer's Buds.
- Cairo's, West Swindon (Link Centre). Casual wear, no trainers. Inexpensive, smallish and full of under 21's out to impress. Normally a fun night out. Don't expect any philosophical discussions. Drink at the Shaw Ridge Tavern or Pinkerton's if you want a preview of what enters Cairo's.
- All the others are in the centre of Swindon, a taxi-ride away from decent drinking holes.
- Brunel Rooms (if you live for Dance music)
- Route 66 (if you don't)
- Kaos (yeh, not Chaos)
- Vadim's (if you're sad)
- Level 3 (for those with purple hair).
- Mission Nightclub now open in Old Town. Easier to get into fort Knox! People from out of town often turned away without birth certificate and DNA sample. Hideous outbreak of 70's/80's music nights: Cairo's - Friday nights Route '66 - Every night Kaos - Wednesdays/Saturdays Yates - Every night Litten Tree - Saturdays Mission - Most nights Only places for 'real' music remain the Brunel Rooms (dance) & level 3 (heavy indie/alternative) the rest are all pretty cheesy - and Swindon people can't get enough of it. My advice, go to Bristol quick!
- Mission, Kaos, Cairo's, Route 66, Brunel to name but a few.
- Brunel Rooms Rocks...........
