Live Music Venues
  • Thursday nights at Swindon Town FC's Winners Lounge! Mad place for a venue I agree but always a good night, best local bands and some excellent out-of-towners, great sound and cheep beer, what more could you want?
  • Riffs Bar near Lydiard Millicent and the Royal Oak in Old Town to mention just a few!
  • The Kings, Great staff friendly manager and a Great music venue all round if you're out for a good night no kids and no hassle... I heard Curtis Stigers younger brother (Jake) is playing with his band on 21st May, and some twat below says "what live venues", open your eyes!!!! On the flip side, I've heard some bad things about Area 51, mainly the manager and his readyness for a fight, beware clubbers don't cross the manager
  • west swindon centre, st johns ambalance hall, savencke street, numerous squats. look i'm taling about the eighties here!
  • Area 51, Furnace (dont bother tho, full of little emo kids with weird hair and social issues). The Vic is slightly better tho in Old Town
  • Area 51 - Great Venue, Holds 300+ People, 2 seperate Bars just incase the band playing is crap? Decour's old but good atmosphere. They do Punk,Pop,Metal,Rock Nites.
  • The Queens Tap, Station Road. New Management have taken over and will be doing live music on Fridays and Saturdays, expect a mix of rock tribute, original rock and metal and some Blues bands.
  • FURNACE AND AREA 51
  • Area 51 on swindon rd stratton is cool, they have a jam sesh every weds nite usually starts around 9ish come along give it a try some nites are awesome some are'nt that good but it's a great place to meet like minded musicians bring along yer guitar and have a bash
  • the furnace
  • yeh as i said the furnace is where small bands, and some bigger bands have their venues held, and theres area 51 in stratton by the aldi sumpermarket where the smaller bands have their first-out gigs held.
  • The Vic in Old Town is quality. Riffs Bar in Hook has bigger names.
  • The Furance is great for punk rawk shows(aka level)
  • Arts Centre, Beehive Pub half way up Old Town. Queens Tap has loud cover bands on Thur/Fri Nites. The Apartment, Havelock Square, Jamie Cullum played there just before Christmas, the tickets sold out in 5 mins!
  • BRUNEL ROOMS, casbah
  • Riff's bar, we headlined there..... so yeah.....not really
  • If you want to see 12 months a year skatepunkskatepunkskatepunk, then join the skater brigade at the Furnace in commercial road. If you want to see a variety of Music, go to the Vic in Old Town. If you can drive, then get yourself to Riff's Bar in Hook jut out of town, it's a great venue.
  • The Vic in old town. Cosy and comfy - what more do you want?
  • best place for band i would say the queens tap
  • The Furnace, Commercial Road. Previously known as Level 3. Friendly, fun, live bands. Goths/Grunge/Punk/Skater types.
  • dangeruss & mc noodles creative control
  • The Victoria. Nowhere else in Swindon really compares.
  • Nowhere decent to listen to metal / punk live music ... mind u, The Bierkeller in Bristol is only 40 minutes up the motorway, a journey I make a lot and probably will continue to ... damn good venue, damn good bands, decent bar prices
  • No music venues as such. The Vic in Old Town plays host to some pretty decent local bands - bit small inside though. The Oasis Leisure Centre is trying it's best recently - Ash, Fun Lovin' Criminals.
  • The Atrium is good 4 all types of music, from hip hop, to alternative.
  • The Dolphin on Rodbourne fast becoming a good night for live bands on thur fri sat and sunday. Everything from indie, punk to country! Run by a local muso and his mrs, Check it out!!!
  • Party In The Park last Sunday. We haven't got a proper music venue and when we do get famous people in town they all mime; Excusing Aswad, Go West and a 12 year old girl shaming everybody, Dane bowers. Acts like A1, Blue and Atomic Kitten are conning the kids and sickening those members of truly talented bands who can actually sing and play their own instruments. Posh Spice, for instance, who dropped her mic and carried on the miming at Birminghams party in The Park. The dozy, talentless clothes horse who just rides on the back of fame (Beckham). There are hardworking people who stand on stage and give it their all for an hour and a half, not to a backing track, with a real band who play real instruments in a real world of live music. I don't know how people can support these mime artists, Posh isn't even good at doing that. Any fool can make an album in a studio if they have the money and the right look, and thanks to millions of people Posh HAS got the money. There should be a law against being ripped off by talentless artists. For £23.50 for Party In The Park I felt ripped rip off and wanted to call the police. KEEP MUSIC LIVE!!
  • Are you joking? Surely you are! The busker guy with the quiff in the street is the best gig you're likely to see in Swindon
  • old vic
  • The Victoria, 88 Victoria road. Live local bands, tribute and small national. Also DJ's playing 60's & 70's, and indie/grunge.
  • Swindon basically has everything entertainment wise, other than a decent music venue. Bands play Bristol and London all the time, surely a stop off here at a proper size venue would make sense... if only the town Council had any and built one. Mind you, our taxes is their money not ours, I keep forgetting.
  • The Vic in Old Town puts on local bands and the occasional national type such as John Otway.
  • Level 3 is the only place I really remember. I once saw The Fall there. However as a venue, it's layout is totally unsuitable for a crowd of more than 3 so it is fortunate that no decent bands ever play in Swindon.
  • The Old Vic in Old Town good bands
  • What's a music venue? Never heard of any half-decent acts playing in swindon. Ever. As far as music goes, your better off going....to the pitcairns? -anywhere. I am dying here. Level 3 has bands, but they're shite. Rock bitch would've played, but the police stopped them...that's the closest we ever got.
  • You're joking, right? Swindon, despite being a sizeable town, has absolutely no concept of this, although full marks to the Old Town Arts Centre and the Link Centre for occasionally trying, even if they do overcharge compared to everybody except Wembley Stadium.
  • The Venue
  • Bands also play at the Oasis Leisure Centre, which is the place the band Oasis (allegedly) were named after..!
  • Lydiard Country Park hosts many events including music festivals.
  • The Link Centre
  • The Queens Tap down near the station has bands on most Thursdays and Saturday nights. They are mainly rock but you do get some dodgy covers bands.
  • The Venue, Oasis (sometimes), Level 3 and some pubs in the area.
