Pubs in Swindon, Wiltshire*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Swindon.

Pubs
  • Beehive (pub for self proclaimed alternative types ie balding with pony tails)
  • the castle, and some others that the lesser mortals go in somtimes like the george, beehive, wheatsheif etc.
  • The Spot - Oh dear God, the girls! Absolute eye candy everywhere.
  • Walkabout is quality for England games on massive projector - awesome atmosphere!!! Also good for nights out - boasts the longest queues around bottom of town! Yates - pricey pool tables, Broadwalk - never seen that full, Mbargo - good place to start off, good music, fit girls, plus match of the day on the flat screens - what more do you need at 10:30 on a Sat night!!!
  • Revolution in Bridge Street serves a very pleasant range of slightly unusual food in stylish surroundings. Quite a surprise because the rest of the area seems to be a fast breeding colony of vertical drinking establishments. Reasonably priced too.
  • im 16 and ive been served alcohol at swindon rugby club! beat that! hundreds of pubs in every estate.
  • Down the bottom of town, into Fleet Street is the "Pub Central".
  • GW, across from the rail station of course. Tawny Owl, Abbey Meads. Windmill, Freshbrook. Mackenzies, Wood Street, Old Town (they do food during the day too). Many of the places in Bridge Street, the Savoy further up by town hall. Rudis is good, by college,
  • Why oh why oh why, is there no where to go in Swindon that has chilled out music, maybe a bit of drumand base, maybe a bit of breakbeat. A pub that you could go to with sofas (evenif they are a bit minging and dirty) that you can sit and have a relaxed drink, with good music wearing your trainers? Instead of this there is a proliferation of nasty townie pubs where leather loafas and pink shirts is a must for the men and the ladies are exploding out of their nylon nasties. Please can some one save those endangered inhabitants of Swindon who don't want to hear S-Clubs greatest hits on a Saturday night, or see over weight hefties bumping and grinding to Sean Paul. For the love of humanity - some one sort it out!
  • The Savoy sell cheep booze
  • If you go in the Savoy (Wetherspoons) watch out for the old man brigade, but it is cheap with friendly staff and good food.
  • Over priced!
  • Mckenzies, Fusion, Longs all in Old Town all very nice. All play some good music and not cheesy crap. Not full of seedy old men trying to score young flesh either!! If it has to be town centre then the Bedroom and the brand new Round are ace. Savoy is minging and dingy.
  • The Bedroom on a thursday-£1 a drink, The Fishes in Highworth on a Friday night, Bar Me for dancing on tables, Edwards over 21s for a sophisticated crowd.
  • The hideous bottom of town puke / fight in the street shenanigans (think Yate's, Bar Me, Edwards, O'Neils) or the couple of poncey bars in the Old Town (if I see one more bloke thinking he's Beckham! The Hoxton fin hairstyle is so 2 years ago!). The best of the Old Town bars has to be MacKenzies. Good crowd, beer and scran, pretty decent tunes - deeper end of house.
  • y does the savoy hav no music????? neway good food cheap drinks damn good!
  • There is another Gay pub in Swindon - the Mail Coach. Perhaps 'gay friendly' would be more appropriate i.e lots of 'straight' people seem to call in from time to time. Anyway, it is a really friendly place and worth a visit
  • Bar Cuba, is nice and cosy, good taste in Cuban music. The atrium good setting. The Savoy is good , but no music. The Vic but they're quite strict on ID. The prince of |Wales however would serve anything to any1.
  • The Dolphin in Rodbourne run by local muso and his Mrs,Indie nights, punk, metal to country. All welcome except kids! Sorry.
  • The Abbey Meads on a sunday for a good fun quiz night.
  • Rolleston on the corner of Curtis street and Commercial Road, brill pub plus next door to Level 3 night club and Indian restaraunt...Wot more could u want ??
  • OLD TOWN forget new town full of production line scum
  • Hello. Just like to mention - Swindon has one of the UKs coolest Sunday Bar gigs. Deephaasfunk @ longsbar (Vistoria Road, Old Town) is free entry every sunday and you can expect deep and funky house music from regular (every other week) world renowned guest DJs such as MR.C. from the Shamen , Groove Armada, Paperecordings and Crispin J Glover. ...as well as lovely residents Smalley and Galaxy 101s Deli G...CHECK IT!
  • For a different scene (other than dance and shite 70's), try The Victoria, 88 Victoria Road. Excellent food too. All Organic and caters for the vegetarian too. Don't even BOTHER trying to get served if ye be underage!
  • Long's Bar wins the 'coolest' bar award as they hosted the launch night of Serotonin (www.serotonin-uk.com). Fusion is good also and plays better, harder music. Longs needs more trance. less 'funk'. Don't believe the hype, down town pubs are shite, Old Town pubs are the only ones worth going to.
  • The Rat and Parrot has a good atmosphere at the weekend, and Bar Cuba is a refreshing change, even though it is out of place here!
  • THe Savoy is usually a good pub. The Sportsman was ok if you liked to listen to rambling, bitter old men
  • The Cricketers - For a friendly Gay scene
  • Savoy is good for Cheap Beer but the food is bad. Hogs Head has a great selection of beer but not many people go there. Firkin is the best place to go and watch Sport
  • Pubs in Wanborough are as good as you could hope for; people in Huddersfield even dream of Wanborough pubs. No wonder the village grows and grows. try the Plough in the evening, and the Brewers Arms for a family sunday lunch, its worth the queue
  • Top Pub in Swindon: - JD Wetherspoon, 'the Savoy', top end of town. Largest pub in town, best looking bar staff, always smiling, now that makes a change. BEst of all cheap beer!! Come on 'n' see.
  • The plough in wanborough. Fantastic place...old village pub, nice staff, good atmosphere....
  • MONDO MONDO, it's got big sofa's and cool chairs and makes the customer feel like they're some where far more exciting than swindon
  • Sudden explosion. Savoy, Yates's, Slurpin Toad, Father Teds, Footplate and Firkin, Litten Tree, Rat and Parrot, Rat and Carrot, Rollestones, and soon, Hogshead, all v. close, in Town Centre.
  • Are all currently being crammed into the lower end of Regent Street where the police can keep a very close eye on anyone, and those who are a bit funny-looking can be more easily excluded.
  • Lots of new ones t the bottom of town, Litten tree, Firkin, Father Teds, At top of town there is a weatherspoon pub called The Savoy
  • One gay Pub....the Cricketers
  • The Bear. - A real Gem. The Borough for the locals.
  • Most people go to Swindon OLD TOWN for Pubs and Food: Mackenzies is the most popular and complete bar, serving wines, beers, satellite tv (nobody watches- it's purely for atmosphere), loudish music and even a restaurant upstairs. Oh yes, and it is PACKED with babes. Not everyone can get into Mackenzies at the weekend owing to two large Bouncers at the door so they go to The Steam Railway (especially if you're 18-20), The Hobgoblin (if you're more of a grunge merchant), Rudy's or The Wheatsheaf. Pretty much any pub in Old Town is worth a drink in (or at least a half).
  • Most popular places on Friday/Saturday night are Fusion in Old Town and Yates on Bridge Street. Many newly opened pubs in the town, mainly along Bridge Street, the best include the Rat & Parrot and the Footplate & Firkin. Best of the older pubs is the Wheatsheaf in Old Town.
  • There are now loads of new pubs opened in the centre of town such as; Yates, Rat & Carrot, Rat & Parrott, Father Teds (yes, it's an Irish theme pub!!), Litten tree, Slurping Toad (don't some of these have great names!!), Weatherspoons and my favourite The Footplate and Firkin. This has loads of different games that you can play when you're pissed like giant Jenga
  • The hub of Swindon nightlife has moved from Old Town to the centre of Swindon. A multi-million £ facelift of the Town centre has seen an explosion of new and trendy pubs around the Fleet Street, Bridge Street x-roads. Mondo-Mondo, The Litten Tree, Hogshead, The Firkin Brewery, Yeates' Wine lodge, Father Teds, and further up the town centre The Savoy (ex cinema). The Old Town area is feeling the pinch with the majority of party people now staying in the town centre for close proximity of The Brunel Rooms and Route 66.
