The places where you buy your music

Record Shops
  • there was a great little record shop & indie. label called Rygel Records. I cant remember the guys name who ran it but he released a band called 'Moscow Heat' and was the first European distributor of the famous 1989s Canadian punk band 'The Dayglow Abortions'. Anybody remember the shop or him?. Love to contact him. Peter Carr-Vancouver,BC,Canada carr9framestv@hotmail.com
  • VIRGIN MEGASTORES, your grandparents, inside the Market opposite ARGOS.
  • there used to be a good shop downstairs at the brunel centre where I used to get all my records and clothes from, forgotten the name. probably not there any more!
  • HMV, Virgin
  • BossTunes is an independent record shop that has been going since 2002, it caters for most music styles on cd and vinyl and if its not on the shelves they can order it in for you……at last a record shop in Swindon that does what it says on the tin!
  • theres a few in swindon, you got hmv, virgin and im sure theres plenty more but woolworths is a bit pikeyish if u buy your cds from there coz u look like some sort of money savin pentioner coming out of woolworths with an old britney spears album.
  • HMV usually has a few good imports, and the selection is getting a hell of a lot better - IDM, post-rock etc. The staff in there are mostly skaters/alternatives now, so know what they're ordering in. Worth a look, just in case.
  • The stall in The Tented Market. Pretty small, but a good collection. HMV for a good range and good service. Virgin for desperation and special offers, but not for the world's best service. The world has to know the truth.
  • Swindon resales - cheap and cheerful for CDs and a few vids
  • HMV, Virgin
  • boss tunes positively 4th street hmv
  • Virgin and HMV are the obvious choices but if you're in to the old stuff or alternative choons then The Rockin' Emporium is the place to go cuz its a tattoo shop, record shop and vintage clothing shop all in 1!!!
  • groove city - poeple behind the counter are wickid!! Check out Swindon Resales for cheap second hand rubbers and maybe even pick up something a bit rare...
  • The Best place by far for Records in Swindon is the newly opened Groove City, on market street. These guys really know there music, producers and cater for all genres (nearlly), if they dont have it in stock they can get you it, and its by far cheaper than ordering off juno and you probably wont have to wait as long.
  • Virgin
  • HMV gotta be this one exept for them blimmin stairs!
  • The best place for second hand at a decent price- Postively 4th street. Music Box i also good, and good deals!
  • Groove City is entirely overrated, a shame as it looked like we were getting a decent record store. It's got half empty shelves and smells. I'd rather shop in a sewer where the rats are more friendly than the egotistical sales assistants that Groove City employs. Maybe it'll pick up......here's hoping cos Swindon needs a good record store.
  • virgin, hmv
  • Groove City is shaping up to be pretty fine, the people in there are helpful and unlike most anally retentive dance music shops, don't discriminate against trance
  • Ha ha ha - in Swindon? you must be joking. This is the capital of cheese - Billie comes from here remember? Indie music lovers will have to be content to rummage in desperation through piles of chart dance fodder in HMV and Virgin, only to have to resort to ordering anything more alternative than Travis!
  • Plum Records was always OK for finding rare pPink Floyd albums for £3
  • Rockin' emporium has some old vinyl as does Cash converters (Commercial road)
  • Positively 4th street (might be rival records in disguise), and plum records (which is staffed a pregnant male hippy)
  • Rivals gone. Virgin, HMV, Plum records.
  • Swindon has yet to get any really good record shops that actually care about music. Every single one it's ever had has always given up the ghost after a year or two. Plum Records, just off Eastcott Hill isn't bad, if you can face wading through acres of second hand prog rock. As fo the town centre, I've never seen such high prices for perfectly ordinary albums anywhere else.
  • Rival Records, Brunel Centre. HMV, 16/17 Regents Street.
  • HMV, Virgin Megastore, CD shop in the Big Top Market and Plumb Records in Curtis Street.
