- The 'Freshest' faces can be seen in the Ordulph. The most angry can be seen on Saturday nights in Jack Chams. Duke of York has new owners who've made a real change, besides sports they have live music, midweek quizes, best prices for beer if you're on a budget. Bar lush has long since closed.
- Used to be a few good ones, Queens Head, Bedford, The Cornish, The Whitchurch Inn, The "Tavi" inn, The Union, The Legion and out of town are especially good, The Elephants Nest, The Petertavy Inn, The Castle, The Dartmoor, The Fox and Hounds, The Merrivale Inn, The Posthouse Inn, The Royal, The Plume Of Feathers, The Who'd Have Thought It and many more!
- Best ones - Jack Chams, Union (beware of scary Francis and Clive)..... Ordulph and Trout and Tipple, which is quite far away from the town, couldn't walk there. The barmaid is scary she once yelled at me because I hadn't bought a drink there even though all my friends had and I was just about to, I just had to use the toilet first.
- The main 'local' pubs in Tavistock comprise The Duke of York- Big TV, Sky Sports, bit small, lot of locals who've forgotten where they live; The Market Inn- Nice family beer garden, good food, few locals hidden in the corners; The Cornish- Everyone, I mean everyone(who lives in Tavi anyway) has been in the Cornish at some time, and it is often still the pub favoured by many. Tends to be the first place that most people ever have a drink in. Clientiele varies from youthful to people who wish they were still youthful to older people; The Union- Fairly well known pub, bit out of the way up a side street, favoured by people who feel old walking into the Cornish, but who feel too young to go into the Legion; The Legion- Members only, small, smoky, quite friendly though; The Ordulph- One of the larger pubs, pleasant atmosphere, large TV screen, an old-fashioned red telephone box in the seating area adds a little bit of character. Large function room above the main bar area, good for 18th birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions etc; The Tavy Inn- Don't know much about this pub personally, but I have been told that it does good food and has a nice atmosphere.
- Two of my favourites in the near vicinity are the Elephants Nest (Horndon, MaryTavy) and the Trout and Tipple (on the left, just past Kelly College out on the Mary Tavy Road). The Market Inn is also worthy of a mention here simply because it I used to drink there when I was living near Tavy many years ago.
- bar lush is a cocktail bar which attracts mostly students the cornish arms and the ordulph r more so 4 the middle aged crowd.
- The Ordulf Arms
- The market inn is really rubbish
- Bar Lush is the only trendy bar in town. The best local country pubs include The Blacksmiths Arms at Lamerton, The Peter Tavy Inn, The Rock at Yelverton, The Seven Stars Inn at South Tawton, the Old Inn at Widecombe, The Royal Inn at Horsebridge, and the Leaping Salmon at Horrabridge.
- The cornish as a lot happens there
