• Birthday Banners on the Drake statue - Why, oh why do people find it necessary to broadcast peoples ages across town let alone stick a banner on the statue.
• The weather is crap. It always, always rains a lot in Tavistock. The locals can occasionally be very nosy, annoying and downright rude. It's a relatively small community so it's very easy to 'accidently' over-hear your neighbours row (even if your neighbours live 6 doors down). They're only looking out for each other, they say innocently. The bus service sucks, big time. Basically, if you fancy a trip to Plymouth (the car journey takes about 20-30mins) you'd better get up early and be prepared to wait for a bus for quite some time, and then you can expect the journey to take the best part of 95 minutes, and you often have to stand up or get leaked on if it's raining. Oh, and people tell me that the parking is atrocious, I wouldn't know as I'm one of those unfortunates who has to take the bus, but still I think what they actually mean is, 'The *free* parking is atrocious. I've lived here for blah-blah many years, I shouldn't have to pay!'

• My biggest gripe is ........ NO STATION !!!!!!..... Why oh why did "those people" decide that Tavi did'nt warrant one any longer !!! There was one for years and years and then its gone !!! Let them try getting kids and shopping on a bus / taxi to shops in Plymouth !!! However little Gunnislake is OK !! anyone explain !!!
• The change to Bedford Square that has reduced two traffic lanes to one, creating a regular daily tailback of traffic all the way down Plymouth Road to Drake's Statue - and ensuring you get stuck in the right lane to turn left into the square near the Parish Church, because of the (moving of the) Taxi Rank into Plymouth Road. The constant and continual roadworks, quite often on each of the roads out of Tavistock all at the same time. A 2 minute journey of less than a mile often take upwards of 15 minutes, and always when I am in a hurry, (which is always).

• Saturdays see an invasion of second homers, down from London to the country for the weekend, and donning their green wellies and country garb. The worst thing about Tavistock is the rain. This is one of the wettest towns in England. Sometimes it can rain every day for months on end. Only the hilly terrain prevents enormous flooding, but all the rainfall leads to some dramatic river scenes.
• Kelly College and its dreadful grey harris tweed jackets Having to live here during your teenage years. The fact that the average age of the inhabitants seems to be somewere the other side of 150.
